On the 26th of September our school organized a big BBQ for parents and children. Some students like me and my friends joined to help with the activities. In my opinion we had to do the best one – face painting! It was so nice to interact with children, making a line to get the drawing they wanted. All of them are even tho small but pure individuals, some asked for butterfly, some for monsters, pirates, batmen, cats, tigers, vampires and cute masks with flowers. The best thing was to see their laughing and smiling faces after the work was done 🙂
“The wolves in Ann”.
Today, I am going to talk about dissociative identity disorder. But firstly let me tell you an interesting legend about the wolves in Ann.
According to the legend, each of us has their own wolf inside. It is a lone wolf, who sometimes can be friendly, kind, maybe even in love or angry and mad at someone. A wolf has its own physical and psychological features and characteristics, certain types of behavior, emotions and skills. A man is a ruler of his own life and his interior wolf, however there was a girl whose name is hard to find but let’s call her Ann.
When Ann was young, she lived with her mother and a “very bad man”. This man mocked her mother and her, insulted Ann and forced her to do things which a child should not do.
Ann’s wolf was terrified and did not know what to do, but then it met another wolf. Another wolf that was much stronger and protected Ann from the world outside.
After Ann’s wolf met another wolf, then three more, they created a flock. They all were really different, different ages, different behaviors, and they even had physical differences. One of them was blind, another could sing, however, Ann’s could not; one liked staring at the moon, another liked to hunt. As in all flocks, they needed to have a leader so some started to fight for power. Ann did not know which wolf was in her now and did not remember which was before. Soon the flock understood that Ann’s wolf was weak and ceased to regard his opinion, while more and more wolves joined the flock. Ann’s wolf was lost and now became scared of plenty wolves who surrounded him.
Nowadays there have been a lot of medically recorded causes of the people like Ann but no one can give you a specific number. This mental disorder has baffled such well-known psychologists as Sigmund Freud, for example.
Dissociative identity disorder (DID) or multiple personality disorder (MPD) characterized people who lives with a flock of wolves inside them. One of this flock lived in Ann’s mind and there was no way to get rid of them, except just to accept their being in her.
How to make friend with who you are afraid of? Or who seems to be you? Mental disorders are not someone’s choice and not something that you can control. People should not stigmatize mental disorders, we should take time to understand them and educate ourselves about them so that we can support someone like Ann who needs us.

“O brave new world that has such people in it. Let’s start at once.”
The phrase of the Savage, one of the main character of the book.
Have you ever thought about what will happen in thefuture? I think all of us have done it. I offer you to fly yourself into the world of fantasy of a future world by the increasingly famous British author Aldous Huxley during the 20th century, who remains a well-known figure in classic literature nowadays, too.
At first, when I started reading I thoughts it was just a fantasy about life in future, but after a few pages I realized what was going on in Ford’s society and how many deep thoughts and serious problems were just hidden under the unique and ironic language of the author.
Also, twists and tricks of the plot will keep you reading until the end of it. Let’s try to imagine that all civilization has been destroyed by a great war. Then there is another war, the Nine Years War, which creates a new era of Ford, propagandizing stability through dictatorship. The society in the novel is based on caste system. The higher of the five castes enjoys superior tasks, while the lower ones perform menial roles. Ten Controllers hold all the power in this new world and peace is maintained by conditioning infant minds and by soothing adults with atranquilizer, called soma. The population is further controlled through scientific methods; marriage is forbidden, and children are not born but produced in an embryo factory. What is going to happen to the world next? You will find an answer by reading and enjoying this beautiful piece of literature.
“Brave New World” is a great novel which describes and opens a whole “New World” to the reader and can make him/her think about what can happen in the future.
Halloween is gone but threatful stories and things are still surrounding us in every day life. Few days ago I found commentaries about one strange painting, drawn by American artist Bill Stoneham in 1972 called “The hands resist him”. According to the artist, the boy in the painting is based on a photograph of himself at age five, the doorway is a representation of the dividing line between the waking world and the world of fantasy and impossibilities, while the doll is a guide that will escort the boy through it. The hands represent alternate lives or possibilities. Strange events took place when this painting was given to a gallery: people who were looking at it for more than 5 minutes started feeling sick or even swooned. But after the painting was bought by a stranger, and after that it was sold on eBay. This is a story from the woman whose family bought it.
“WHEN WE RECEIVED THIS PAINTING, WE THOUGHT IT WAS REALLY GOOD ART. A ” PICKER ” HAD FOUND IT ABANDONED BEHIND AN OLD BREWERY. AT THE TIME WE WONDERED A LITTLE WHY A SEEMINGLY PERFECTLY FINE PAINTING WOULD BE DISCARDED LIKE THAT. ( TODAY WE DON’T !!! ) ONE MORNING OUR 4 AND 1/2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER CLAIMED THAT THE CHILDREN IN THE PICTURE WERE FIGHTING AND COMING INTO HER ROOM DURING THE NIGHT. NOW, I DON’T BELIEVE IN UFOS OR ELVIS BEING ALIVE, BUT MY HUSBAND WAS ALARMED. TO MY AMUSEMENT HE SET UP A MOTION-TRIGGERED CAMERA FOR THE NIGHTS. AFTER THREE NIGHTS THERE WERE PICTURES.THE LAST TWO PICTURES SHOWN ARE FROM THAT ‘STAKEOUT, AFTER SEEING THE BOY SEEMINGLY EXITING THE PAINTING UNDER THREAT. AFTER WE DECIDED TO GET RID OF IT. PLEASE DON’T JUDGE US”.
The decision about the truthfulness of this story is up to you, but my suggestion is… just be careful during Halloween time 🙂
PS: You may wonder why I did not show a picture of the painting with this commentary… It is because I find it a bit scary and because I am challenging you to find it on the internet!
