Tonight the miracle of baking yummy cookies happened again in the Villa Ecureuil kitchen… And chocolate cookies at that! Jiusi prepared a good quantity of chocolate and chocolate-chip cookies which will be sold tomorrow in school to gather money for the MADS charity.
Other girls were in the kitchen, bringing fruits to the House for our afternoon snacks and chatting the time away.
A fantastic smell still lingers in the House… We will all have sweet dreams tonight!
A trip to EuropaPark was organized for three girls’ boarding Houses, and four of our boarders went to spend 1 and a half days in Germany to enjoy this fabulous leisure park, which is not far from the border with the German-speaking canton of Switzerland.
It was a short and very intense trip – lots of fun rides, time with friends, food and pictures! Muzoon, Katia, Runa and Rina really liked it.
Here is a selection by our Esther, who went to the trip with the girls!
Sundays are – by definition – days that invite to relax, take things easy… And our brunch is exactly made for that!
In our school canteen in the Léman building, brunch starts at 9:30 and lasts until 11:30, and there is a very good buffet of various types of food… I particularly love the fruit buffet! However, the assortment of donuts and “viennoisierie” is also quite spectacular 🙂
Last Sunday a new activity was organized for our boarders: an Orientation Race, that is, learning and practicing the use of a compass and of a map to find one’s way back to the starting point of the activity. The location is beautiful, right next to a great forest and with a spectacular view of the valley and of the city of Geneva! A guide gave some information about the activity itself and about the natural surroundings.
Saba was one of the participants and, as you can see, she really enjoyed it 🙂
Our great Jiusi received a very beautiful piece of news yesterday: she has been accepted into the National Honor Society (NHS)!
How are members of the NHS selected?
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the United States’ premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character – the four pillars of the organization (see: www.nhs.us).
This is what one can read on the NHS website: “You excel. You serve. You lead. You succeed. You have a true thirst for challenge … and accomplishment”.
I think all this corresponds to Jiusi… And we are so proud of her!!!
the European Day of Languages!
At the initiative of the Council of Europe, Strasbourg, the European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year since 2001 on 26 September.
On the occasion of the day, a range of events are organised across Europe: activities for and with children, television and radio programmes, language classes and conferences. National authorities and the various partners are given a free hand to organise activities.
