Art : The Town of Thoughts by Marijia Tiurina
This is a piece of art I love, it describes someone’s thoughts and ways of thinking. At this moment I can totally identify myself to this picture because of IB. In a specific subject called Tok (theory of knowledge), we need to think and over-think questioning our way of thinking and its influence. It is just crazy, and it demands so much of energy… however I find it so interesting. It is one of the subjects which gathered various types of knowledge and allows us to see different perspectives on any subject… Thus see the world through different lenses.
During my trip to Zambia, I meet these two beautiful girls who were so nice to me. They tought me how to play net ball, it is a mix of football and basketball. They didn’t just teach me net ball but also their culture and lifestyle. That was the most beautiful part of the trip, each of us could share our own culture, and made us know more about each other. Our differences were the power of our friendship. These two girls made one of my best memories of the trip. I will keep in touch with them by sending them letters!
Our trip to Zambia is getting closer and closer, now I am trying to improve our fund-raising. In order to help our Orphanage in Zambia, to help children to handle the future of their country and be then able to have a better future themselves, I am especially working on the fund-raising for the clothes and shoes, and also trying to raise money to be able to check the health of these children. I am really excited about this project. Even 5 francs per each of you could really be meaningful for ZOA and so for the children. It could pay their meals and a future education for them . Even if 5 francs don’t seem like a lot, I wish people could understand that just 5 francs can actually save a life in Africa.
Nowadays, poverty is getting worse in some countries while others are getting richer. We need to keep in mind that we have all we have thanks to these countries which are suffering in poverty now. It’s not a secret that rich countries are exploiting these poor countries. Of course we cannot stop this like that! However, we can help them by doing some small gestures . We don’t need to give thousands of dollars or euros, but we can help with small actions… Such as giving the clothes that we don’t wear any more or that are too small to some poor children, women or men through the Red Cross. Here in our school we have some really amazing associations which help to raise funds, and I am really proud of this! I am a part of one of them called ZOA, and I’m trying my best to help! There are many events created in order to help these countries. We can make the world change little by little , and it is amazing!
I wanted to share some informations about photography. For some people photography it’s just about taking randoms shoots of everything, but actually photography is an Art and we need to remember it! It’s to capture an instant which you will never be able to go back to. It’s a kind of unique image, we cannot take the same photograph twice . It’s something so interesting, you can change the perception of the world with just a picture. It can transmit feelings and emotions just by the way you take it. So now think about it before taking or deleting any pictures ! It’s unique and you can’t replace it!
I am going to talk about my English presentation. Actually it’s not as our usual topics, this time we needed to do it about our own country! So it is really exciting for everyone, I think. In my opinion, a presentation on our homeland is really a good idea. It will make everyone share their own culture and origin, which reflect the atmosphere of our International school. So mine will be about St.Lucia , and I am happy to let my classmates discover it.
Soon it will be vacation time, we all going back home. And it is really nice for everyone , we are going to see our family and friends . Finally relax and won’t think about homework and exams… Almost! However, during the vacation we will still need to work but it’s fine.
Working on some photographs. Some creativity for today! Such a beautiful landscape taken in Jordan.
Today I am writing my first post on this blog. I wanted to talk about my charity activity, because actually a few days ago I had the meeting with ZOA (the charity) about the Zambia trip. I really want to go toZambia , however there are too many of us who would like to go and there are just a few places… So we were told to write a letter of application. I already did it and put as much as I can to prove my huge motivation. I was sincere and I really hope I’ll be chosen!! It would be wonderful.
