I am so happy – I have finally found a BIG kindersurprise!
Unfortunately the holidays are over and we eventually had to come back to our usual everyday school routine. While studying for Mocks and completing our IAs my roommates, and me suddenly discovered a TV show that is now quite popular among Russians – “Battle of Psychics”. I loved this show. I think it may prove that some things are true and some are fake… I was delighted with the charaters and the tasks they had them perform. Murders, illnesses, unfortunate fates and ghosts – all of these must be tested by the 12 psychics and only one will become the best and win the competition. Honestly, I didn’t believe in it the first time I saw it but each new episode made my eyes wide open with shock and amusement. In particular I remember two of the strongest psychics – Alexander Sheps and Merylin Kerro. In the snow their love and sympathy for each other also moved forward.
It truly became an addiction as we tried to see as much as we could in one day. Finally the show finished and the winner was chosen. However after this you get a feeling of emptiness as it is so hard to say goodbye to the characters you are used to.
Overall, Brilliant show. Absolutely MUST BE WATCHED BY EVERYONE!!!!!!!
Well, guys, it is time for the last post in 2013… I think all of us were able to overcome different life circumstances this year: from great misfortunes to glorious victories. I hope that good memories will stay in your mind making you smile every time you feel depressed… and bad ones can always help you to avoid any further mistakes and disappointments!!!
IB2, take a rest, as Mock exams are coming soon!
IB1 can relax, as the true horror will start next year 😉
AP and Maturité, good luck and don’t stress too much!
Wish you all good grades, true love, loyal friends… and letters of acceptance to universities you wish to get in!
I hope you will have an amazing Christmas and New Year party, either with your family or with your friends! Wish you all the best and good luck!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
On the 14th of November 2013 CDL challenged its students with a cooking competition. The rules are quite simple: each Boarding House is given a certain amount of products and other ingredients and must create one dish (main course, desert, etc) within those limits. Villa Ecureuil took the challenge in a serious way, discussing all the possible opportunities to prepare a meal. Inna and I volunteered and used an advantage: consider all the girl’s suggestions, make a list of recipes and sketch a design for the cake. Finally we came up with an idea of re-creating a Russian traditional cake, “Grafskie Razvalini”, made out of “kiss” and custard. The final outlook was decided to be based on a decoration with caramel drawings and sugar powder. Hard work and one sleepless night were rewarded with a first place in the competition. Villa Ecureuil indeed can be proud of the first victory in the series of competitions running this year.
Have you ever wondered what really goes on behind the doors of a working chocolate factory? Would you like to discover where Cailler chocolate comes from and how it is made? Are you eager to learn about the different types of chocolate and how the delicious Cailler chocolate assortments are created?
This museum is very good. It starts with a movie showing different historic short footage about the factory’s history. Then it’s a walk through the history of chocolate, ending up in the factory itself. You get to feel, smell and taste the raw materials of chocolate, witness its production and sample its results (eat as much as you like of 20-30 varieties). By the end of the day it is almost impossible too look at any piece of chocolate, as your stomach is ready to explode.
With an informative excursion we were able to be fully involved into the chocolate production. We were able to create our own unique bar filling with a favourite type of chocolate as well as decorating it with nuts, crisps or cinnamon. By this you can create your perfect receipt of the chocolate from your dreams, you can either share it or eat it by yourself.
Shopping was also a turning point in out excursion as you ought to buy as much as you can in order to feed with tempting chocolate not only yourself but also all your friends and relatives. Indeed the Cailler shop was huge, containing loads of different types of chocolate and sweets. Even the most critical person can find a perfect piece of sweet temptation on the shelves and buy as many as he wants for the acceptable price!
Overall the trip to the chocolate factory was impressive for me and with rivers of hot chocolate I also gained positive emotions and memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Meritas is quite busy with upcoming exams and girls have to spend a huge amount of time and energy for them. The lucky IB2 students are almost finished, while IB1 and AP girls have 16 more days before the exams start. So I wish all the IB2 and AP students to get high grades for the exams and good luck for those who have not even started to study…
Last week the Meritas residents had a chance to show the ability to cook to Viex-Port. What a dinner it was. It was a beautiful feast prepared by the «finest chefs in the world» living in Meritas. Burgers of perfect taste were cooked for the boys and coke and ice tea like an ambrosia was proudly standing on the table. Oh, what a dinner it was…
Boys sat on their wooden chairs chairs, and were all quiet and solemn at first. This was the first time they had to try «homemade» burgers for many of them, but the hunger for the feast burned within many of them. Not a normal hunger, but the kind of hunger that drives men mad. A powerful dark hunger that lingers long after your stomach is filled. After all this was no normal feast.
One of the boys close to the end of the table could wait no more. He picked up his knife and fork and dug in. He ate incredibly fast and ferociously, ripping and tearing the meat and washing it down with some Coke. After a while, all the others also began to eat. Girls didn’t eat as much due to the diets and healthy lifestyle but boys savouring the our burgers made the girls’ mouths fill with saliva…
The dinner was nearly complete, most of the girls were quiet at that point, and only a few boys were still picking at the pieces of meat left with their knifes and forks. They thanked us for the incredible dinner they had. We spent the rest of the dinner by telling jokes and funny stories to each other. Oh, the joy and satisfaction they felt was so evident after that dinner, and what a dinner it was! What a dinner indeed.
