We are getting ready to cook and present a menu to a very special jury of four! And this is how the shopping went in Versoix…
We will let you know the results of the competition… Have a great week-end!
Tonight the miracle of baking yummy cookies happened again in the Villa Ecureuil kitchen… And chocolate cookies at that! Jiusi prepared a good quantity of chocolate and chocolate-chip cookies which will be sold tomorrow in school to gather money for the MADS charity.
Other girls were in the kitchen, bringing fruits to the House for our afternoon snacks and chatting the time away.
A fantastic smell still lingers in the House… We will all have sweet dreams tonight!
Among the many things that boarders in Villa Ecureuil enjoy doing on a late Friday afternoon there is… cooking! It feels a lot like “home” to cook something for oneself, and here you can see Ingrid happily cooking the time away to prepare herself a nice, good meal! No surprise, then, that the kitchen is one of the most crowded rooms in the House during free time 😉
Here begins our long season of tasty adventures! One of the advantages of living in an international community is… World Cuisine! Thanks to our Dining Hall Committee and to many great and committed boarders who dedicate their time and cooking skills, we are able to taste amazing dishes from all corners of the planet.
Last Wednesday we had a fabulous Chinese Dinner!
And here are some photos of our beautiful Ecureuil cooks and helpers, Eileen and Vera, with some of their friends behind the kitchen counter. Thank you!
I am talking about invasion of ants in our kitchen!! We are going to war!
Today these small insects attacked us. They went all over our floor in kitchen and we are sure that they also planned to go on our tables.
In the afternoon our girls Inna and Julia were cooking desserts for the Tuesday get-together with teachers. Unfortunately some sweet liquid or sugar fell on the floor and was unnoticed by the cooks. It attracted these small “evils” to come to our place.
Now the girls are putting all their power and water & soap to get rid of them.
I am sure that we will WIN!!!
Good luck girls 😉
Here Sunday afternoon can often look like this… No, let me correct myself: here Sunday afternoons can look like this when the sun is shining!!
This is a good and a bad sign at the same time: GOOD because spring is here and boarders can put their winter clothes away… BAD because some of them are going to empty these trunks for good when leaving the Boarding House in May after the exams! :((
And someone is catching up with homework and revision…
What are your Sunday afternoon plans?
Girls of Meritas are not only good at studying but also at cooking.
Last week me and my roommate Dina decided to try to prepare something Chinese as it got really popular. In Migro which is nearby we bought Basmati rice, found very interesting receipts in the internet and occupied the kitchen for almost an hour.
The taste of our “hand-made” food was quite specific, but still we liked it. That was a nice way to spend some time together and to put the level of cooking a bit higher.
Next week we are planning to prepare something Russian, as some of us really miss Russian borsh!
