Good evening,

We had a October Halloween dress up between the boarders after they came back from the holidays..

This picture was taken in Olympus, from the left there are Sofia, Elsa, Katia and Paola.
They all look very nice with their costume.
Every boarding house had a different theme for the costume and ours was motorcycle girls!
Other boarding house girls look nice also, and everyone is creative this year!

This is Yvonne, studying very hard during her study hall time but not forgetting to take care of her skin.
Winter season!  Even this is only November, it has already snowed in Versoix! It is crazy! She is a role model for everyone who has a dry skin during winter, never forget to take care of your body and health even during study hall!

This is Runa enjoying her break during her study time.
How can a little fun hurt you, right?

This is Michelle, who was very tired after double study hall.
Everyone can see how hard she works very on her studies, and even when she leaves her room!

Last week, our “little” Katia turned 18, on Saturday the 5th of November!
We were very happy to hear that she has been reunited with her brother for the weekend to celebrate her birthday.
From the boarding house family, we organized a little surprise birthday party and dinner for her when she returned on Sunday.
Here are several pictures and videos of her and the family enjoying the cake, pizza and some catch-up time with music!

I hope everyone will have a great week without getting sick!!!

Halloween

In CDL we’ll celebrate Halloween tomorrow. It’s a funny day when everyone has fun. You can be who you want. Someone can choose to be something from the animal world such as mouse, a giraffe, a panda and more like this. Someone can decide to be  a queen or a princess to find their princes. But some of us want to follow the tradition and to be a monster such as witch, a zombie, or any different character from horror movies and other films. But for every holiday an atmosphere is needed, that’s why yesterday we spent the whole evening carving pumpkins. It was REALLY fun! But we can’t live without any monkey tricks so after we smeared each other with pumpkin juice. It is one of our usual days in CDL 🙂

Halloween is just behind the corner…!

And at CDL we renew our famous tradition of PUMPKIN CARVING! Tonight over two hundred students got busy in order to create their own versions of the “scary pumpkin”… and it went from this…

to something like this!

And in between… many other fun things happened! like Alisa trying on a big skull mask –  yes, that’s her under the giant skull!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!

The hands resist him

Halloween is gone but threatful stories and things are still surrounding us in every day life. Few days ago I found  commentaries about one strange painting, drawn by American artist Bill Stoneham in 1972  called “The hands resist him”. According to the artist, the boy in the painting  is based on a photograph of himself at age five, the doorway is a representation of the dividing line between the waking world and the world of fantasy and impossibilities, while the doll is a guide that will escort the boy through it. The hands represent alternate lives or possibilities. Strange events took place when this painting was given to a gallery:  people who were looking at it for more than 5 minutes started feeling sick or even swooned. But after the painting was bought by a stranger, and after that it was sold on eBay. This is a story from the woman whose family bought it.

“WHEN WE RECEIVED THIS PAINTING, WE THOUGHT IT WAS REALLY GOOD ART. A ” PICKER ” HAD FOUND IT ABANDONED BEHIND AN OLD BREWERY. AT THE TIME WE WONDERED A LITTLE WHY A SEEMINGLY PERFECTLY FINE PAINTING WOULD BE DISCARDED LIKE THAT. ( TODAY WE DON’T !!! ) ONE MORNING OUR 4 AND 1/2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER CLAIMED THAT THE CHILDREN IN THE PICTURE WERE FIGHTING AND COMING INTO HER ROOM DURING THE NIGHT. NOW, I DON’T BELIEVE IN UFOS OR ELVIS BEING ALIVE, BUT MY HUSBAND WAS ALARMED. TO MY AMUSEMENT HE SET UP A MOTION-TRIGGERED CAMERA FOR THE NIGHTS. AFTER THREE NIGHTS THERE WERE PICTURES.THE LAST TWO PICTURES SHOWN ARE FROM THAT ‘STAKEOUT, AFTER SEEING THE BOY SEEMINGLY EXITING THE PAINTING UNDER THREAT. AFTER WE DECIDED TO GET RID OF IT. PLEASE DON’T JUDGE US”.

The decision about the truthfulness of this story is up to you, but my suggestion is… just be careful during Halloween time 🙂

PS: You may wonder why I did not show a picture of the painting with this commentary… It is because I find it a bit scary and because I am challenging you to find it on the internet!
