Did you know that…

November is Pomegranate Month?

The Pomegranate has been with us for a very long time, stretching back through history to its first recorded appearance in Ancient Egypt, where it was used for the treatment of various infections and even tapeworm. We can then see it in Ancient Greece where it was considered the fruit of the dead, and was associated with the Hades and Persephone myth, where her consumption of six seeds led to her spending half the year locked in the land of the dead.

Pomegranates are more than just a simple fruit, they’re packed of Vitamin C, dietary fiber, folates, and much more. They’re truly little treasure-troves of health and nutrition, with a reputation for being something of a miracle cure. Such was its popularity that POM has used it as the foundation of its entire product line, citing anti-inflammatory, anti-disease, and anti-oxidant properties as just a few of its benefits.

Such wonderful rich and beautiful fruit deserves a celebration, and that’s what Pomegranate Month brings it.

Healthy diet

It’s a great advantage that we have fresh fruits in the Boarding House and for breakfast. It’s a good way to start your day, making yourself a fruit salad, which helps you to keep a healthy diet and will definitely make you happier as it reminds of summer and sun. Moreover, fruits are a nice snack between study halls instead of chocolates or cookies that contain much more calories, and for girls that’s important, for sure 🙂

Stay healthy!!!

Winter is coming and it means that there is a big risk for us to get sick. A very easy way to keep yourself healthy is to eat fruits! Fruits are loaded with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, which are essential for our body and also strengthen our immunity towards diseases. Fruits like oranges, blueberries, strawberries  keep cancer, heart attack and other coronary diseases away. Vitamin C in these fruits keeps our blood pressure in check. Antioxidants in cherries, raspberries and blueberries fight free radicals and repair the damaged cells in our bodies. Enough reasons why fruits are good for health! So I strongly recommend you to eat fruits every day 😉 And as we girls always want to keep our weight in check, fruits help us with that!  They are very low in calories and are beneficial for those who want to lose weight. One can always substitute fruits for any regular food they eat and, as fruits consist mostly of water, they can make the stomach full and curb down the craving for more foods 😉 Stay healthy!!!
