Wishing you all a fantastic summer!

The end of the academic year is… two days away! As usual, we are all in the midst of an emotional storm: tired, happy, excited, busy. “Exams are over but the grades are not out yet!” – “Do I need three or four trunks to pack all my things?” – “Will they let me carry all my suitcases in the plane?” – “I can’t wait to see Greece with my friends!”

It was a fabulous year with the Ecureuil girls!! Intense, full of new and exciting things, with many beautiful moments spent together…

Our hearts are sad because the graduates left… But we look forward to another year of adventure with our “new” seniors!

Have a great summer 🙂

Mother Ocean day – May 10!

Mother Ocean Day is relatively a new celebration, as it was introduced for the first time in 2013. It is a concept thought up by the South Florida Kayak Fishing Club that has since sought the approval of the City of Miami to declare this a day official. The point, of course, is to take a day to celebrate the beauty and wonder of the ocean, and it is no surprise that inhabitants of Florida were the ones to come forward with this idea, as Florida is famous for particularly gorgeous white sand beaches and clear, aquamarine waters.

Dreaming of the beautiful summer ahead of us!! Keep on going, senior girls 🙂

Getting ready for the summer

Girls from our House are getting ready for the summer. It is the time to get rid of all the fat we gained during this winter. Some of us go jogging every evening when they don’t have much homework to do. I think it is a very good thing to do because by partaking in a 30 minute daily jog, your heart will grow stronger and healthier. Running will help you increase your blood circulation and overall improves your health. In short, you’ll live longer and remain healthier throughout your life – especially if you continue your jogging habit on a regular basis throughout your life.

One of the biggest benefits of a daily jog is weight loss. Individuals who are looking to lose weight and get healthy would benefit from a daily jog. Jogging increases the body’s metabolism and helps burn fat.
Therefore, a daily jog will help you lose the weight in a healthy way when compared to taking a pill, having weight loss surgery, or using a crash diet to reach your fitness goals.

So I think we all should start this healthy activity and those who already started… just keep it up 😉

A healthy diet…

As summer is getting closer, most girls have started following a diet although they are already skinny enough. Here are some eating tips for a healthy diet, I hope it will be useful for you guys ;))

Healthy eating tip 1: Set yourself up for success
To set yourself up for success, think about planning a healthy diet as a number of small, manageable steps rather than one big drastic change. If you approach the changes gradually and with commitment, you will have a healthy diet sooner than you think.

Healthy eating tip 2: It’s not just what you eat, it’s how you eat
Healthy eating is about more than the food on your plate—it is also about how you think about food. Healthy eating habits can be learned and it is important to slow down and think about food as nourishment rather than just something to gulp down in between meetings or classes.

Healthy eating tip 3: Eat more healthy carbs and whole grains
Choose healthy carbohydrates and fiber sources, especially whole grains, for long lasting energy. In addition to being delicious and satisfying, whole grains are rich in phytochemicals and antioxidants, which help to protect against coronary heart disease, certain cancers, and diabetes. Studies have shown people who eat more whole grains tend to have a healthier heart.

Healthy eating tip 4: Enjoy healthy fats & avoid unhealthy fats
Good sources of healthy fat are needed to nourish your brain, heart, and cells, as well as your hair, skin, and nails. Foods rich in certain omega-3 fats called EPA and DHA are particularly important and can reduce cardiovascular disease, improve your mood, and help prevent dementia.

Healthy eating tip 5: Limit sugar and salt
If you succeed in planning your diet around fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and good fats, you may find yourself naturally cutting back on foods that can get in the way of your healthy diet—sugar and salt.
