Last night we celebrated Paola’s eighteenth birthday in the House with a good chocolate cake, a nice chat and a warm atmosphere.
We wish you all the best, Paola!
November is Pomegranate Month?
The Pomegranate has been with us for a very long time, stretching back through history to its first recorded appearance in Ancient Egypt, where it was used for the treatment of various infections and even tapeworm. We can then see it in Ancient Greece where it was considered the fruit of the dead, and was associated with the Hades and Persephone myth, where her consumption of six seeds led to her spending half the year locked in the land of the dead.
Pomegranates are more than just a simple fruit, they’re packed of Vitamin C, dietary fiber, folates, and much more. They’re truly little treasure-troves of health and nutrition, with a reputation for being something of a miracle cure. Such was its popularity that POM has used it as the foundation of its entire product line, citing anti-inflammatory, anti-disease, and anti-oxidant properties as just a few of its benefits.
Such wonderful rich and beautiful fruit deserves a celebration, and that’s what Pomegranate Month brings it.
This afternoon, the kitchen was in full action! Yvonne with Michelle, then helped also by Jiusi, Katia, Runa, prepared a fabulous Chinese menu for the Master Chef House Competition: fried and steamed dumplings as a starter, followed by sweet and sour pork, green tea ice cream. The first two courses were served on golden dishes, inside a leaf of Chinese cabbage – simple, classy and original!
There are some photos of the cooking process… During the presentation to the Jury Of Four (Mr Usher, Mme Salamin, Mr. Romolo and Mr. Leticia) we were all so busy that we did not use the phone or the camera at all!
We had a October Halloween dress up between the boarders after they came back from the holidays..
Everyone dressed up super nice and we took several pictures.
From left, there is Ivonne, Charcy, Jiusi and Michelle.
They look very Halloween with their make up!
This is another picture of them by Leman building posing for a picture with some Halloween. They look very cute!
The first picture is a selfie from Rina, posing with her own craved pumpkin! Very cute even with her Halloween make-up!
The second picture, from the left Rina and Runa posing before going to carve pumpkins!
This picture was taken in Olympus, from the left there are Sofia, Elsa, Katia and Paola.
They all look very nice with their costume.
Every boarding house had a different theme for the costume and ours was motorcycle girls!
Other boarding house girls look nice also, and everyone is creative this year!
This is Yvonne, studying very hard during her study hall time but not forgetting to take care of her skin.
Winter season! Even this is only November, it has already snowed in Versoix! It is crazy! She is a role model for everyone who has a dry skin during winter, never forget to take care of your body and health even during study hall!
This is Runa enjoying her break during her study time.
How can a little fun hurt you, right?
Last week, our “little” Katia turned 18, on Saturday the 5th of November!
We were very happy to hear that she has been reunited with her brother for the weekend to celebrate her birthday.
From the boarding house family, we organized a little surprise birthday party and dinner for her when she returned on Sunday.
Here are several pictures and videos of her and the family enjoying the cake, pizza and some catch-up time with music!
These are the several videos we shoot for her birthday party and dinner in the boarding House: img_5402 , img_5393 , img_5382
I hope everyone will have a great week without getting sick!!!
Tonight the miracle of baking yummy cookies happened again in the Villa Ecureuil kitchen… And chocolate cookies at that! Jiusi prepared a good quantity of chocolate and chocolate-chip cookies which will be sold tomorrow in school to gather money for the MADS charity.
Other girls were in the kitchen, bringing fruits to the House for our afternoon snacks and chatting the time away.
A fantastic smell still lingers in the House… We will all have sweet dreams tonight!
Sundays are – by definition – days that invite to relax, take things easy… And our brunch is exactly made for that!
In our school canteen in the Léman building, brunch starts at 9:30 and lasts until 11:30, and there is a very good buffet of various types of food… I particularly love the fruit buffet! However, the assortment of donuts and “viennoisierie” is also quite spectacular 🙂
Tonight we had a very good reason to celebrate: Vera turned 19! She really is THE senior student in the House 🙂
Many wishes from all of us in Villa Ecureuil!
Here is another yummy event which took place today!
All the Boarding Houses presented their gourmet delicacies to a strict (and very happy) jury of four.
Our menu: Entée of smoked salmon on avocado salad, French-style “pot-au-feu”, Nutella and chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice-cream.
I will say no more!
