Note Taking 2

Web based editing tools

We where tasked with exploring web based editing tools along those Pixlr.com, Picmonkey.com and several others. Pixlr has several editing tools along those crop, gradient, the ability to add text and draw over an image as well as many others. Both Pixlr and Picmonkey are great free alternatives to photoshop however some features require membership.

The pictures below are an example of soem of the various toold available at Picmonkey.

What world do we live in?

So what world do we live in?

The answer is simple, we live in a world of code. Code is everywhere we look weather it is a operating system such as windows or a clock on the kitchen counter. Therefore it is crucial that we explore the world of code and understand the world we live in.

Several weeks ago we where tasked with picking up a programming language (as it was the international hour of code event). The language I chose was JavaScript. Javascript is an object oriented language and is mainly used in front end web development. I managed to program a rock paper scissors game where a user can type an input (Rock, Paper or Scissors) and the computer then picks rock, paper or scissors at random using the math.random function and then using if / else if / else statements, I matched up the results and displayed a message depending on the outcome. Here is the jsfiddle link : https://jsfiddle.net/b6j789aj/

In addition to the rock, paper, scissors game I explored different function and possibilities that a developer can do with Javascript. I managed to complete 52% of a 10 hour Introduction to Javascript course on codecademy.com.

progress

In conclusion these weeks where I explored the world of code and understood the importance of code in our lives. I plan to continue improving my Javascript skills as well as learn back end web development languages such as pHp.

Photoshop Mosaic

Today in computer application we where asked to create a mosaic using photoshop. The assignment task was to add five identical images all having width equal to height (square) and align them vertically. Once properly aligned we where tasked to add a unique effect to each image.
