New opportunities with ASK

ASK is currently recruiting student volunteers for our 2012 Spring/Summer Programs.

This Spring we are organising Peer Mentoring and Monthly Kids and Teens Socials, as well as preparing for our Geneva and Leysin Summer Camps.

Peer Mentoring

We have about 5 young adults who are interested in being peer mentored. This peer mentoring activity will begin in April and we are looking for a group of students to plan outings with our mentees, to be positive role models and provide positive peer interaction whilst helping the mentee in developing their own social skills. For more information on this program please visit:

http://www.allspecialkids.org/wp/programs/care/adolescent-support/

Monthly Kids and Teens Socials

Also starting in April, we are looking for students who are interested in volunteering and getting involved in monthly weekend activities with children aged 6 to 16. This activity provides a great opportunity for the children with special needs and learning differences to meet new people in a friendly, relaxed environment, whilst also developing their social skills. The student volunteers will be learning a sensitive, positive approach to dealing with children with different social abilities.  For more information please visit:

Summer Camp
Our Geneva day camp begins on 16th July for four weeks, ending with a final fifth week of intensive study skills. We have added a new camp this year in Leysin, a two week, sports focused camp. We are looking for out-going, fun, enthusiastic individuals who are keen to work with children and who will act as positive role models, developing the confidence and social skills of the children whilst taking part and assisting in the activities. Dear Friends of Serve the City Geneva,

We have a couple of events scheduled to correspond with World Clean Up Day and wanted to invite you to sign up for one of the events.

A.  We are looking for a few energetic cleaners to help clear some of the overgrown animal cages in Bellevue at the Zoo Parc d’Accueil. The animals will be very grateful for your time! This will be a half day event 9-12:30.

B.  Another option is to help with some cleaning at Villa Julien at Ali Baba a  second hand shop run by Carrefour Rue in Geneva (click “Activités” and then “Caverne Ali Baba” for information.)  This is a full day event, from 9:00 to 16:00 .

It’s easy to sign up. Just send an email here: volunteers@servethecitygeneva.ch stating your project of interest (either “A” or “B” – or  “Either event.”) We will then send you more details on the project.   Let us know if you would not  mind taking up a the job of a project team leader some time.

Serve the City Geneva

As you have experienced recently the temperatures have been plummeting well below zero. A bitter cold is gripping the whole Europe. To date, over 200 people have died and millions of others are affected across the continent, including many in Geneva.

One of our faithful service providers, The Salvation Army, are asking for our assistance as it aims to cope with the increasing demand of people in need.

There is an opportunity to serve lunches to those impacted by these Artcic conditions every day from 11:30 – 14:00.

If you want to serve, please contact Richard Holt at: richardghni@gmail.com

Thank you for your time and kind consideration.
