Weekly Meeting

To keep going with our well-being program, today we spoke about the importance of being surrounded by good friends. To give them a clear example of how determined if our friendships are genuine, we watched this video. Then, we chat about what each of us values the most in our friendships.

Weekly Meeting

We started the third pillar of the School Well-being program. For this pillar we are going to focus our discussions on these topics:

  • Friendship groups
  • Sociability
  • Internationalism
  • Positive role model

The basis of all relationships and role models start by respecting one another. It is why we watched a YouTuber video explaining this very clearly in 7 big points about “respecting”.

Then, we discussed the video as always, sharing examples. At the same time, we were eating some delicious delicatessens `Kosei` brought for us from Japan.

Welcome back and Happy New Year 2020!

We are now the full House, finally! We were still waiting for one boy to arrive due to a weather-related flight but here the weather has been beautiful and everyone is in very good spirits. It is great to see the boys enjoying themselves after a good holiday.

The Diversity Christmas Song!

I know you were all waiting for this… and finally… here you have it. Our first single!!

Following on from our school Well-being programme, the topic it focuses on is “Diversity” so what better way than to sing a song with all the languages we have in the House; Spanish, Chinese, English, Japanese and French!

It was great to see them trying to sing in another language and to have so much fun. Maybe they did not show it that much in front of the camera, but I can guarantee we enjoyed it a lot.

Enjoy, and we wanna wish you a Merry Christmas…

Teachers in our home!

Thank you to all the teachers that came to visit us Yesterday. It was a pleasure being able to see our Boarding House full of teachers. It is great to see the boys showing their “home” to them. We hope they enjoyed the visit! You are all welcome to come to visit us again.

Winter Ball at Kempinsky

This last Saturday evening we have a wonderful event, our annual Winter Dance.

The whole of the Boarding community made a tremendous effort and all of the Concha Annexe boys were looking very smart indeed.

A brilliant evening all round – Very proud of my boys !!

La Nuit de L’escalade

L’Escalade, or Fête de l’Escalade (from escalade, the act of scaling defensive walls), is an annual festival in Geneva, Switzerland, held each December in celebration of the defeat of an attempt to conquer the Protestant city by the Catholic Duchy of Savoy. Troops sent by Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy, attempted a surprise attack during the night of 11–12 December 1602, but according to legend, were repulsed by a cook who dumped boiling vegetable soup on the invaders before raising an alarm. The celebrations and other commemorative activities are usually held on 12 December or the closest weekend.

Fortunately, for the House we have Ilian, a proper Swiss. He explained the Swiss history to us and we watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDisM7UCq0U&t=49s. Ilian said that the tradition is the oldest and the youngest people within the group, together try and break the “marmite” (The pot) but as you see, when they have to break something, they become too excited and they do not listen to my instructions. Hopefully, Weiaho was recording already.

Suddenly, just after we did this ritual, we noticed it started to snow! First snow of the school year at CDL!

House Dinner

Each year within the Boarding community we organise a House dinner. In Concha Annexe we had the possibility to do it together as seven family members. I cook for them, they help to set up the table, Juan Carlos prepares a very nice dessert “Tortitas con Chocolate”. We had a very nice time together chatting about nothing and everything. We ended the dinner by playing a summer camp game, the boys laughed very much and they went to the bed with a happy face, that for me is the most important.
