On this hike and through the international award I have learnt so much. Not only have I learnt skills such as tent building, map and compass reading, and cooking but I have learnt a lot of life skills. Skills such as collaborating with others and listening to others opinion; for example when we would disagree when deciding which way to to turn at a cross-section. I also helped others learn tolerance when I sang both the Yeo Valley songs during the whole hike! The most important thing I learnt from the hike is teamwork, it was essential that we stick together. Sometimes we worked as a team for serious things like dividing and carrying everything we needed, or for stupid things like carrying a tree (pictures in the video).
Before the hike I also learnt loads. I improved my baking skills and got a lot fitter by doing more sport so I’m healthier. I also helped a lot of children with a lot of homework. But it was worth it to see them so happy when they realized how quickly they could finish if they tried not to get distracted! I also learnt how to help these children when they were hurt or upset. They also kept me fit by making me it every week when we played tag.
Overall the international award was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to do the silver award! Enjoy the video!
