Fresh air on the Swiss mountains

Finally, it’s time for that moment we love so much at the beginning of the year, the Mountain Weekend!

This weekend the whole boarding community enjoyed different activities in two magnificent villages: Fiesch and Verbier.

We have been able to practice activities such as glacier hiking, via Ferrata, mountain biking, rope course, or laser tag, among other games.

Without a doubt, this experience helped us to get to know other boarders better and to share good moments with them in a wonderful environment.

Wellbeing Programme 2023

This year we are excited again to introduce our Wellbeing Programme. We consider this as our boarding curriculum much like the students have their academic curriculum in school. We have grown this programme over the past years into a successful and engaging series of pillars for our students.

We have five Pillars to our programme;

Healthy Body, Healthy Minds
Respecting Diversity and Protecting Against Bullying
Building Positive Friendships
Online Safety
Making Safe and Responsible Choices

Parlez-vous Français? We Do, One Label at a Time!

Going to a boarding school in Switzerland gives students a great chance to learn French, a language spoken by millions of people around the world.

To help our boarders learn French in a fun and easy way, Mr Ishaan has started putting French word labels on different items around the house. This means while grabbing a “pomme” (apple) or sitting on a “chaise” (chair), students can learn new words every day!

Plus, one night a week, we’re making house time extra special by speaking only in French. This gives everyone a chance to practice what they’ve learned and chat with friends in a new language.

By learning French, students can make new friends, discover French books and movies, and feel more at home in Switzerland. So let’s have fun learning French together!

Amazing Weekend of Fun

Weekends at boarding are far from ordinary. Imagine starting your day paddleboarding on the beautiful waters of the lake, before heading into historic Geneva to explore the sights. On Sunday you might play some tennis in the morning after a delicious brunch, before taking part in the House Competition with your friends and then going on a walk through the forest.

There are always plenty of opportunities available at the weekends and this one was no different. We had, fitness, badminton, ping-pong, tennis, cooking, wood crafting, climbing, paddleboarding, horse riding, running, dance, golf, stretching, chess club, nature walks, and swimming to choose from!

Building bonds before the school bell

Hello, everyone!

Before the school bell rings, before we dive into our books and lessons, our boarding house comes alive with laughter and games. You see, here, we believe in more than just study; we believe in becoming a family.

We played many team games. Some made us think, others made us laugh, and a few even made us run around like children in a park! The goal? Simple. To know each other, to trust, to become more than just roommates – to become teammates, friends, and family.

For example, the Human Knot game. We stood in a circle, held hands with two different people, and tried to untangle without letting go. It was a mess at first! But, little by little, with communication and patience, we found our way out. A lot like life, no?

These games were more than just fun. They showed us that even if we come from different places, speak different languages, or like different things, at the end of the day, we are all here together. As one family in our boarding house.

We hope to have a great year here in Olympus, and we invite all of you to be part of it, please, follow and enjoy with us our adventures during this amazing year.

Greats from the Olympus team

Gordon, Apollon, and Rodrigo.

Welcome back!

We are back! We hope you had a wonderful holiday, and we are already back preparing for your arrival. We look forward to sharing our stories with you.

From Sunday the new students will be discovering the house and the campus, and during the rest of the week, the others will be arriving, ready for a great year?

🚴‍♀️ Boarders and Staff Take on a Charity Challenge for World Bicycle Relief 🏃‍♂️

Hello, Olympus Boarding House community! We are thrilled to share the incredible efforts and achievements of our boarders and staff as they took on a special charity challenge in support of World Bicycle Relief (WBR). With their determination and dedication, they have made a significant impact on the lives of students in the developing world. Let’s dive into the details!

World Bicycle Relief is a remarkable charity that aims to provide bicycles to students in the developing world. These bicycles serve as a practical solution, enabling students to overcome long and arduous journeys to school. By reducing absenteeism and improving accessibility, WBR’s efforts have a transformative effect on the lives of these students. If you are interested in donating money to this initiative, please follow the link: World Bicycle Relief.

In the spirit of supporting WBR and fostering a sense of camaraderie, we challenged our boarders and staff to run a week’s worth of commuting to school for the average recipient of a WBR bike. Additionally, Collège du Léman Athletics department challenged the boarding students to run a week’s worth of commuting to school for the average recipient of a WBR bike. In the time we took to do this as a relay team, Collège du Léman Athletics thought they could cycle all the way around Lac Léman (170 km).

In a thrilling turn of events, the runners emerged victorious in completing their challenge before the cyclists circled Lac Léman. The boarders and staff showcased their determination, teamwork, and commitment to making a difference.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the entire Boarding Community community for their incredible participation and support in this charity challenge. Your dedication and commitment have made a lasting impact on the lives of students in need, empowering them through the gift of bicycles.

We also extend a special thank you to Mr. Rob, who selflessly accompanied each and every one of our runners, ensuring their safety and motivation throughout the challenge. Your guidance and support were invaluable in making this event a resounding success.

Let’s continue to support meaningful causes and embrace opportunities to make a positive difference in the world. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.

Go, Olympus!

😋😍 Olympus Students Savour the Flavours of the American International Dinner 🍔🌭

Students from the Olympus Boarding House recently embarked on a culinary journey to the United States with its American International Dinner. Students eagerly gathered to indulge in classic American dishes, savouring the quintessential flavours that have become synonymous with American cuisine.

The iconic burgers and hot dogs were at the centre stage of the American International Dinner. Juicy, flame-grilled patties, sandwiched between fluffy buns, served as a testament to the art of the American burger. The succulent hot dogs, with their familiar snap, delighted students with their timeless appeal. These beloved staples brought forth the nostalgia of backyard barbecues and summertime gatherings.

Accompanying the main dishes, students had the option to choose from a selection of salads. The salads provided a refreshing contrast to the hearty burgers and hot dogs. The vibrant colors and flavours added a wholesome touch to the meal, satisfying both the taste buds and the health-conscious.

No American feast would be complete without indulging in desserts, and Olympus students were treated to an array of delectable treats. Cookies, freshly baked to perfection, were a crowd favourite with their chewy centres and heavenly flavours. Apple cake, infused with warm spices and topped with a buttery crumble, provided a cosy and comforting finish to the meal, capturing the essence of American home baking.

As the students bid farewell to the American International Dinner, they carried with them the memories of a flavorful feast and a deeper understanding of the cultural diversity that enriches the world of food. Until the next international culinary adventure, let’s continue to explore the globe, one bite at a time. Enjoy!
