RPI – OS Install

As you could see during the RPI introduction, you have several OS that can be installed on a RPI. As we have class 4 SDCARDs, it takes too much time to install a full image on it.

You can download a lightweight install that will download the extra packages from the internet. Download the following file:

https://github.com/hifi/raspbian-ua-netinst

Extract the content of the archive and copy it to the SDCARD. Once completed, you can insert it in your RPI. Complete your User guide with this possible install step.

Scalable Vector Graphics

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics. You can experiment it with the free software Inkscape that you can get at http://inkscape.org.

Like Pixl.com, find a free online based SVG editor and start making shapes and a map using this technology.

Upload your creation on a new blog post with a description of SVG. Also create a SVG from a picture that you created by uploading it to: http://www.autotracer.org. Upload the result to your blog.

Game advertising poster

As an exercise, you will design a poster to advertise a computer game, it can be an existing game from miniclip or similar or any game of your choice. As posters for these types of game do not exist it must be entirely made up and most of the information will not be known.

You could use the online photo editing tool www.pixlr.com or any online photo editing tool you choose.

The poster should be in A4 format (you will need to find the correct dimensions).

The web is full of sites where you can see examples of posters. Make sure that you do not miss any of the essential parts, each on a separate layer.

The poster can be mostly graphical but should contain at least:

  • Picture of the game
  • Name of the game Ÿ
  • Age limit of game (PG, U, etc.)
  • Platform (PC, Mac, PS, XBOX, Ouya etc.)
  • The name of the producer, writer, developer or similar
  • At least 5 other layers/components

The completed poster should be posted as a page and not a post.
