As the year comes to a close, we want to wish you the very best for the holiday season and an amazing year ahead, filled with wonderful memories – whether in the boarding house, at school, or at home. May the coming year bring you health, happiness, and joy! 💫
Last night, the Mövenpick Hotel hosted an unforgettable Winter Ball to celebrate the end of the first semester. The girls from Écureuil spent all of Saturday preparing for this special occasion, and as you can see in the photos and videos, they looked absolutely radiant. The evening was filled with delicious food, dancing, and wonderful moments shared together. Our girls had an amazing time and truly enjoyed every moment. It was the perfect way to mark the end of the first semester, a memorable and joyful celebration.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the School, the Directors, and the Principals, with a special thank you to Mr. Mike for organizing another successful Christmas Ball.
As every Sunday, we shared our traditional brunch together. On this occasion, we were especially pleased to express our sincere gratitude and warm congratulations to our dear chef, Mr. Antonio, on the occasion of his birthday. After more than 25 years of dedicated service in the school kitchens, he continues to inspire us with his commitment and care. It was truly a pleasure for our boarding community to take this moment to honor him and offer a small gesture of appreciation in return.
Tonight, our students proudly celebrated one of Geneva’s most beloved traditions: the breaking of the chocolate “marmite” for L’Escalade!
Following the custom, the youngest and the oldest of the house joined forces to break the marmite together — a symbolic moment that represents unity, courage, and community spirit. This year, Abby and Lucy had the honor of carrying on this beautiful Genevan tradition!
Laughter, excitement, and a bit of chocolate chaos filled the room as everyone gathered to cheer them on. It was a warm, joyful moment that brought all our students together and reminded us of the wonderful cultural heritage we get to experience here in Geneva.
“Ainsi périrent les ennemis de la République!” And just like that, the marmite shattered—along with plenty of tasty chocolate shared by all!
CDL Talks returned for its third edition this year, bringing together the inspiring voices that make up our vibrant CDL community. This unique annual event features powerful presentations from students, alumni, and staff, along with interactive discussions that spark curiosity, reflection, and connection.
From flying cars to AI that dreams, the future is evolving faster than ever. This edition of CDL Talks invited us to explore how we think, connect, and find meaning in a world that never stops moving. Together, we reflected on themes such as challenging anti-intellectualism, understanding the human loop where technology and creativity meet, shaping our moral compass, and protecting real human connection in the digital age. It was a meaningful reminder that The Future We Share is not something we simply step into, it is something we actively create.
We are especially proud of Mr. Ronan, who represented our Boarding community with a moving and insightful talk on resilience, a core value that supports the wellbeing, personal growth, and strength of our boarders. His message resonated deeply with the students, reminding us all that setbacks are not failures but opportunities to rebuild, learn, and rise stronger.
This past weekend, our girls teamed up with great enthusiasm to create this beautiful gingerbread house for the House Competition. The whole house was filled with the warm, sweet smell of ginger and spice . A true scent of Christmas that made Ecureuil feel even more like home. Their teamwork, creativity, and festive spirit were wonderful to see!!
Tonight we enjoyed another international dinner in the house: Nasi Goreng. Nasi Goreng is a traditional Southeast Asian fried rice dish made with pre-cooked rice stir-fried with a small amount of oil and seasoned with sweet soy sauce, shallots, garlic, shrimp paste, tamarind, and chili. It is often served with additional ingredients such as egg, chicken, prawns, or vegetables.
Another relaxing night enjoying ourselves before our departure for Winter Break !!
Tonight, we held our first Awards Ceremony, where several of our girls were recognized for their achievements. Cici received a medal for her engagement in Activities, and Jasmine was honored for her contribution to Boarding Life. Furthermore, Ada was recognized during the Excellent Week for her positive contribution. Well done to all the winners ,we are very proud of you!
As part of our Pastoral Program and Wellbeing Pillar 1, we had a session this evening on Body Image. We started by watching a short video to spark conversation.
We reflected on where body insecurities might come from most identified social media, peer pressure, and societal expectations as major influences. We explored how these messages can affect our feelings, behaviour, and self-treatment, noting that insecurities can lead to self-criticism or comparing themselves to others.
Finally, we agreed that it is possible to challenge and unlearn some of these negative beliefs through self-awareness, positive reinforcement, and support from friends and mentors.
The discussion was lively , and the girls showing genuine insight and support for each other’s perspectives.
