Beware of witches and ghosts, the spooky season is upon us 🎃🍭

On Thursday we celebrated the most scary day of the year… or is it?

Halloween at our boarding community was a complete success! On Thursday morning each house showcased the pumpkin creations the students had worked on the night before. We saw some terrifying designs that would keep even sleeping beauty awake at night!

The night continued with a lively trick-or-treat event where our students paraded in an impressive mix of “scary” and funny costumes, from classic ghosts to hilarious movie characters. Laughter and shrieks filled the air as they collected candy from boarding houses and local houses, ending the night with bags brimming with treats. It was a fantastic evening full of Halloween spirit, spooky fun, and an incredible candy haul for everyone!

Happy fall break🐿️

The October break arrives after two months of classes and a hectic routine in the boarding house. The past weeks have been filled with events, trips, time to study, and lots of fun. Now, the holiday offers a chance to step away from the routine, unwind, and recharge. Whether heading off on a family trip or taking time to relax, this break is a perfect opportunity to reflect on recent accomplishments and recharge for the upcoming term. After weeks of hard work, it’s time to relax, enjoy new experiences, and return refreshed.

Dia de Muertos: A Celebration of Life

Today, during our monthly Boarding Assembly, Alejandra went on stage with other fellow Mexican students to introduce to the boarding community the Dia de Muertos.

Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead in English, is a Mexican tradition that honors deceased loved ones with joy and celebration rather than mourning. It is celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November Observed on November 1st and 2nd. As a tradition, families create ofrendas (altars) adorned with photos, candles, marigolds, and offerings such as food and mementos to welcome the spirits back for a day. Calaveras (sugar skulls), pan de muerto (bread of the dead), and vibrant parades are part of the festivities. The holiday emphasizes remembering the dead as a natural part of life, keeping their memories alive through storytelling and ritual.

Despite her initial fear of speaking in public, Alejandra did an amazing job sharing her tradition with the rest of us.

5 km race 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Today we celebrated our annual 5 kilometers boarding race with 24 students participating. With this initiative created by Miss Perrine, we want to encourage students to move their bodies and stay active. having a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly can help us not only physically but also mentally. It can help us to sleep better, have more energy during the day, and reduce stress and anxiety.

Haruka, following her prefect duties helped with the organization of the race, encouraging and supporting the runners and guiding them through the path.

Congratulations to all the participants!

Friday night: friends and food 👩‍🍳🤩

It has become a tradition for Manuela to meet with her friends on Friday night in one of our boarding houses and make Brigadeiro. On this occassion, other students from other countries joined and all toghether they prepared different international dishes from Italy, Japan and the Czech Republic.

The CDL team dominated the game with an impressive 11-1 victory. Manuela was one of the stars of the team, after scoring 5 incredible goals throughout the game. Europa-park and sunny weekend ! ☀️🎢

Manuela is definitely well integrated in her fitness routine: whenever she is not at home or at school, it is always assumed she is either at the gym, on a run or joining one of the several sports activities offered by CDL. 💪

Ale had an amazing time with her mom in Geneva, exploring the city’s charming streets and iconic landmarks. It was a weekend filled with laughter, bonding, and unforgettable moments! 🩷

If you look under the photo of Ale with her mom, you will notice a large group of students with beaming smiles. This joyful atmosphere comes all the way from Germany, more specifically from Europa Park. ✨

As every year, the number of students joining this funny trip has been impressive, and it’s true: the more of us there are, the more fun we have! Kseniia spent the weekend at Europa-Park, enjoying all the exciting attractions and thrilling rides. She had a fantastic time exploring the park and making fun memories! 🎢🎡

Get to know our girls’ roles🏡

At Collège du Léman, we like to give students a platform to express themselves and help enrich our community. We are pleased to announce this year’s role within the house. Each one of these girls has been selected for their role having in mind their involvement with the community, with the house, their communication skills, and their motivation to be the change future generations need. We wish them all the best of luck, we are sure you will do great!

End of the week

We can’t believe it has already been a month on campus! Time flies by when having a good time and keeping busy.

This weekend Ada wanted to try Wakeboard, but as the wind has been crazy on this side of the lake she decided to put on her boots and go for a horse riding class! She was a natural rider and, although she didn’t like the smell of horses, she had a blasting time!

Haruka decided to spend her Saturday afternoon helping by the lake with the annual Lake Clean up. She joined forces with other boarders and all together made an impact on our lake, making sure to pick up any trash they might find on the way. Thank you Haruka for helping the community!

Lots of love,

Maria and Lina  🐿️
