A Weekend Full of Magic

Dear all,

What a weekend! We started bright and early on Saturday with Samedi du Partage, where our boarders were stationed at store entrances encouraging shoppers to donate non-perishable food items. It was an early start, but absolutely worth it for such a fantastic cause—especially for our Juniors, who found the experience both rewarding and eye-opening.

Meanwhile, another group headed off to Disneyland Paris for a truly magical adventure. With fifteen hours across two days, they managed to experience everything from classic Disney charm to Star Wars thrills and Marvel excitement. A trip full of smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories!

Closer to home, festive vibes were in full swing at the Montreux Christmas Market, while others enjoyed a cozy movie night watching The Grinch Who Stole Christmas with the girls from Terray. Add in all the usual sports, study sessions, and downtime, and you’ve got a weekend that ticked every box!

Samedi du Partage

Dear all,

This weekend, our boarders kicked off the day bright and early to take part in Samedi du Partage, a charity event supporting those in need. Stationed at COOP in Versoix from the first thing in the morning, they encouraged shoppers to donate non-perishable food items.

It was an early start, but all for a great cause! This was especially brilliant for our Juniors to experience—an opportunity that was both rewarding and eye-opening as they saw how even small contributions can make a big difference. We’re proud of their dedication and their commitment to giving back to the community!

Thanksgiving at Champs des Bois

Today was Thanksgiving, and we celebrated it in a very special way. We gathered in the dining hall for a festive dinner that included classic dishes like corn, turkey, pumpkin, and other autumn vegetables. Of course, no Thanksgiving would be complete without dessert, so we enjoyed delicious pumpkin pie and apple pie.

In the evening, we moved to the living room back in the house for a meaningful activity. Each of us took a moment to reflect and write down what we are thankful for. These notes became the feathers of a colorful turkey we created together—a beautiful reminder of gratitude and togetherness. Our turkey of gratitude now decorates the room, reminding us of the things that truly matter.

Excellence Week in CDB

Dear all,

This week at CDL, we are proud to celebrate Excellence Week, a time to recognize the incredible talents and efforts of our students. In our junior house, every boarder brings something unique to the community—whether it’s creativity, kindness, academic focus, or teamwork. Each individual contributes to making our house a vibrant and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

Among these outstanding students, we want to give a special mention to Mikito, our boarder of the week, whose enthusiasm and positive attitude have been a source of inspiration for his peers. From engaging in house activities to showing growing dedication in his studies, Mikito exemplifies the spirit of excellence we value so highly. As we celebrate this week, we are reminded that excellence comes in many forms—and we are proud of every student who makes our community stronger every day.

Once Upon a Time At CDL…

Dear all,

Tonight, the brilliant minds of Terray 27 and CDB came together to spark some festive cheer with a Secret Santa kickoff. The atmosphere was warm and lively as students gathered for games, laughter, and a shared sense of excitement.

Paul-David and Jasper added a special touch by reading a heartfelt festive message before everyone picked names from the hat. The room buzzed with anticipation as students immediately began plotting thoughtful gifts for one another—setting the stage for a truly joyful holiday season.

Celebrating Paul David’s Birthday! 🎉

After an amazing day exploring Montreux, we returned to the house ready to start the week. But before diving into our routines, we took a special moment to celebrate Paul David’s birthday together.

Everyone gathered in the living room, filled with smiles and excitement. We sang a heartfelt “Happy Birthday,” Paul David blew out his candles, and then the fun really began—our favorite game at the moment: hide and seek! Laughter echoed through the house as everyone joined in, making it a birthday to remember.

Happy Birthday, PD! Here’s to many more joyful moments together.

WITER IS COMING

Dear all,

What a weekend we just had! It all started on Friday with the very first snowfall of the season. The moment those flakes began to fall, the whole atmosphere changed — suddenly everything felt more magical, more festive. Some of us rushed outside just to feel the snow on our faces, others stayed by the window watching the world turn white.

Saturday was one of those days where you don’t stop smiling. We kicked things off with the Climbing Cup, and everyone cheered as Yarik gave his best and proudly finished in 8th place. Later, when the sun went down, Olympus became our playground. We played hide-and-seek in every corner, laughing and running around like kids again. And when we finally slowed down, we curled up together for a cozy Christmas movie — the perfect way to end such a lively day.

Then came Sunday, and we took our festive spirit on the road with a trip to Montreux. The Christmas markets there were simply enchanting: twinkling lights, the smell of roasted chestnuts, stalls full of handmade gifts, and music filling the air. Walking through the market felt like stepping straight into a holiday postcard.

Looking back, it was a weekend full of little moments that made us feel connected — to each other, to the season, and to the joy of living together in Champs Des Bois

Celebrating World Children’s Day – every child has a voice, a dream and a right 💙

Today, we came together to celebrate World Children’s Day, a special occasion that reminds us of the importance of children’s rights and well-being. Our Primary and Middle School students showed their support by wearing blue clothes, the color that symbolizes this global day.

After dinner, the fun continued in Olympus, where we enjoyed an evening full of laughter and games. We started with a lively round of Warm Potato, followed by an energetic game of Dodgeball, and wrapped up with the classic Traffic Light. Olympus was filled with smiles, cheers, and a wonderful sense of togetherness.

Beyond the fun, this day carried a deeper meaning. As we played and laughed, we reflected on how fortunate we are to enjoy fundamental rights—the right to go to school and learn, to play and have free time, to be listened to and express our opinions, to have a name and identity, access to good health and medical care, to be surrounded by family and people who care for us….

World Children’s Day is not just a celebration—it’s a reminder to value and protect these rights for every child, everywhere.

Weekend Adventures!

Dear all,

This past weekend was full of laughter, teamwork, and meaningful moments for our house.

Friday and Saturday Nights:
The boys had a blast playing hide-and-seek with the girls from Terray 27 and other friends. It was wonderful to see everyone laughing, strategising, and enjoying each other’s company.

Saturday Adventures:
We headed into Versoix for a quick trip to Coop to pick up some essentials. Back at the house, the usual weekend favorites—cooking, tennis, and climbing—kept the energy high. Later that evening, we wound down with a classic movie night featuring Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a nostalgic favorite that everyone loved.

Sunday with Purpose:
Sunday brought a mix of fun and generosity. Half of the house took part in the Gift Box Appeal, preparing thoughtful packages for children in need—a beautiful display of kindness and community spirit. Meanwhile, the other half enjoyed a lively bowling session, strengthening bonds and sharing plenty of laughs.

Happy Birthday Samuel!!

Today, we had the joy of celebrating Samuel’s upcoming 11th birthday! Although his special day is on Saturday, we couldn’t wait to share some fun and make him feel extra special.

For the first time in a long while, all 11 boarders gathered together—it was such a wonderful moment of connection and laughter. We kicked things off by singing “Happy Birthday” in English, followed by a playful countdown:
“Are you 1? Are you 2? … all the way to Are you 11!”

After that, we warmed up with delicious chocolate cake, while in the background, cheerful Chinese birthday music added a unique touch to the celebration. Samuel even received a thoughtful gift from a friend, which made him smile from ear to ear.

To wrap up the afternoon, we turned up the music and played a lively game of hide-and-seek—everyone joined in, and the energy was amazing!

Samuel, we wish you the very best and hope you enjoy your birthday with your family this weekend. We’re so happy we could pre-celebrate with you today!
