ABRSM Awards – Well done Mana & Kimi!

Dear all,

Today we celebrated the incredible achievements of two students, Manamitsu Shigeta and Kimi Dong. In only a little more than eight weeks of preparation last year, these two remarkable students rose to an extraordinary challenge and achieved Grade 1 certificates in their ABRSM Awards—one in Singing for Musical Theatre and the other in Piano. With little to no prior experience, they showed incredible commitment and growth.

Mana embraced the expressive world of Musical Theatre singing, learning to combine vocal technique with storytelling and stage presence. While Kimi, a former CDB student now in Concha, took on the piano with equal determination, and even performing at the event, please see below!

Starting from scratch, they quickly developed a solid foundation in musicality and technique, progressing week by week with impressive focus. Today, both students were formally recognised in a special ceremony celebrating their achievements—a proud moment for them and for all of us who supported their journey. Their success is a testament to what can be accomplished with courage, discipline, and a love for learning. Well done Mana and Kimi – fantastic!

Back Into the Swing of Things!

Dear all,

This evening, after returning from our first day back at school, we gathered as a House to share stories of the adventures we enjoyed during the October Break. To keep things lively, sweets were awarded for the best tales — it would be rude not to, especially with Halloween just around the corner this Friday. Consider it training!

At the boys’ persistent request, we wrapped up the evening with a spirited game of hide and seek, a fitting way to welcome them back into the House.

It is truly good to see everyone back in one piece and in such good spirits!

Goodbye for the October Break!

Dear all,

It has been a busy start of term, but the time has simply flown by! The boys in the house are looking forward to a well earned break, and we look forward to hearing the adventures and stories of what they got up to when they return!

It’s time to recharge the batteries, enjoy some time off and relax-to-the-max!

We wish you all a safe, joyful and pleasant break.

All the best,

The Champs des Bois Team,

Ronan, Iker, Riccardo & Andrei

Chinese International Dinner

Dear all,

Tonight’s Chinese international dinner featured a tasty mix of traditional Chinese culinary options. Students and staff gathered to enjoy the food, try chopsticks, and learn a bit about Chinese culture. It was a relaxed and enjoyable evening with good food and great company.

Welcome Back BBQ

Dear all,

One of the highlights of the start of year term, is always the Welcome Back BBQ at Concha. The weather was kind to us today, so the boys had a great time walking around the different stalls, trying the food, listening to the music and having some fun outside with their friends!

Weekend? More Like Whirlwind!

Dear all,

We kicked things off on Friday with a classic autumn activity—a good old game of conkers with the juniors (A blast from the past, a true old-school game!). It was great to see everyone getting stuck in, laughing, and enjoying a bit of friendly competition to start the weekend.

Saturday’s sunshine made our trip to Geneva even better. The boys joined up with students from other houses, shared stories, did a little shopping, and just enjoyed being out and about together. Back at Champs des Bois, basketball and cooking in the kitcehn were the go-to activity, with lots of energy and teamwork on display.

Sunday brought more action with laser tag in Geneva, as well as a calm and rewarding gardening session led by Ms. Rym. With movie night, cooking, tennis, and more sprinkled throughout, it was a weekend full of variety, connection, and plenty of smiles.

Respect Week Project

Dear all,

“A person is a person, no matter how small.” – Dr. Seuss.

As we start CDL’s Respect Week, the Primary and Middle School Houses joined this evening to cement the occassion by creating a banner with mentions of what respect means to our students.

It was encouraging to see how our students have such mature understandings of the various aspects of respect, and what it means to them on a personal level.

Keep your eyes peeled for future events as the ‘Dream Team’ (of Junior Houses!) collaborate to make memorable experiences for our boarders and keep them involved in our many celebrations, in a way that keeps them clued in.

Well done to all involved for your creativity and time, and a massive thank you to Ms. Cristina for organising the event!

Weekend Adventures!

Dear all,

After the buzz of Discovery Days and the Mountain Weekend, the boys were more than ready for a chilled-out weekend. It’s been great to see them recharge, and enjoy some downtime together. Even though the weather wasn’t on our side this week, we still found ways to stay active and make the most of it—board games, indoor hangouts, and lots of laughs kept the energy up. A few of the boys even got stuck into some gardening, helping tidy up the outdoor spaces and help rescue a falling tree—muddy hands, happy hearts!

The big highlight was today’s House Competition Sports Day! Our boys teamed up with the Junior Girls’ House, J.B. Terray 27, and absolutely smashed it. Rain or shine, the spirit was high and the teamwork was even better. It was awesome to see everyone getting stuck in, cheering each other on, and building that strong sense of community we love here at Champs-des-Bois.

Italian International Dinner & Evening Kahoot Fun!

Dear all,

This week, othe CDB lads got a delicious surprise—a full-on Italian pizza night right on campus! As the bright red pizza truck rolled in, the scent of freshly baked dough and sizzling toppings filled the warm autumn air. The boys didn’t waste a second gathering around, eager to dig into the feast. With slices in hand and laughter all around, the evening was fantastic. The empty boxes said it all: total success!

After the pizza feast, the boys weren’t quite ready to call it a night. So we fired up a few rounds of Kahoot to keep the energy going. The room lit up with friendly competition, quick thinking, and plenty of laughs. Whether they were battling for first place or just enjoying the banter, everyone got involved. It was the perfect way to wind down—fun, fast-paced, and full of team spirit.
