Celebrating World Children’s Day – every child has a voice, a dream and a right đź’™

Today, we came together to celebrate World Children’s Day, a special occasion that reminds us of the importance of children’s rights and well-being. Our Primary and Middle School students showed their support by wearing blue clothes, the color that symbolizes this global day.

After dinner, the fun continued in Olympus, where we enjoyed an evening full of laughter and games. We started with a lively round of Warm Potato, followed by an energetic game of Dodgeball, and wrapped up with the classic Traffic Light. Olympus was filled with smiles, cheers, and a wonderful sense of togetherness.

Beyond the fun, this day carried a deeper meaning. As we played and laughed, we reflected on how fortunate we are to enjoy fundamental rights—the right to go to school and learn, to play and have free time, to be listened to and express our opinions, to have a name and identity, access to good health and medical care, to be surrounded by family and people who care for us….

World Children’s Day is not just a celebration—it’s a reminder to value and protect these rights for every child, everywhere.

Weekend Adventures!

Dear all,

This past weekend was full of laughter, teamwork, and meaningful moments for our house.

Friday and Saturday Nights:
The boys had a blast playing hide-and-seek with the girls from Terray 27 and other friends. It was wonderful to see everyone laughing, strategising, and enjoying each other’s company.

Saturday Adventures:
We headed into Versoix for a quick trip to Coop to pick up some essentials. Back at the house, the usual weekend favorites—cooking, tennis, and climbing—kept the energy high. Later that evening, we wound down with a classic movie night featuring Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a nostalgic favorite that everyone loved.

Sunday with Purpose:
Sunday brought a mix of fun and generosity. Half of the house took part in the Gift Box Appeal, preparing thoughtful packages for children in need—a beautiful display of kindness and community spirit. Meanwhile, the other half enjoyed a lively bowling session, strengthening bonds and sharing plenty of laughs.

Happy Birthday Samuel!!

Today, we had the joy of celebrating Samuel’s upcoming 11th birthday! Although his special day is on Saturday, we couldn’t wait to share some fun and make him feel extra special.

For the first time in a long while, all 11 boarders gathered together—it was such a wonderful moment of connection and laughter. We kicked things off by singing “Happy Birthday” in English, followed by a playful countdown:
“Are you 1? Are you 2? … all the way to Are you 11!”

After that, we warmed up with delicious chocolate cake, while in the background, cheerful Chinese birthday music added a unique touch to the celebration. Samuel even received a thoughtful gift from a friend, which made him smile from ear to ear.

To wrap up the afternoon, we turned up the music and played a lively game of hide-and-seek—everyone joined in, and the energy was amazing!

Samuel, we wish you the very best and hope you enjoy your birthday with your family this weekend. We’re so happy we could pre-celebrate with you today!

KOREAN INTERNATIONAL DINNER

Dear all,

Our boarding house recently had the pleasure of attending a Korean International Dinner, an evening that brought our community together through food and culture.

For our students, it was not only a chance to enjoy a delicious meal but also an opportunity to learn more about Korea’s heritage and traditions. The dinner reminded us how food can connect people, foster understanding, and strengthen the bonds within our boarding house community.

It was a memorable evening, and we look forward to more cultural celebrations that continue to broaden our horizons.

FOOTBALL TROURNAMENT : CDB Team V.S. OLYMPUS

On Saturday afternoon, the CDB Team, made up of students from grades five to seven, proudly took to the football field to face the senior boarding house, whose players ranged from grades ten to twelve. From the opening whistle, the match promised to be a spirited contest between youthful determination and seasoned experience.

Although the seniors held the advantage in age, size, and physical strength, the CDB Team responded with remarkable courage and skill. Their passing was sharp, their movement was confident, and their attacks carried real threat. Goal after goal was scored, and the younger players matched their opponents with energy and resilience that drew admiration from all who watched.

The final score stood at seven to five in favor of the senior boarding house. Yet, the result only tells part of the story. The CDB Team demonstrated resilience in the face of stronger competition, teamwork in every play, and pride in representing their boarding house. Scoring five goals against a senior team is a significant achievement, and it reflects the talent and promise within our younger athletes.

This match was more than a sporting event; it was a lesson in perseverance, character, and sportsmanship. The CDB Team proved that success is not defined solely by the scoreboard, but by the effort, discipline, and unity displayed on the field. Both teams are to be congratulated for their commitment and fair play, and we look forward to future inter-house competitions where the CDB Team will continue to grow, improve, and shine.

Cozy November Dinner at Champs des Bois

This Tuesday evening, Champs des Bois turned into a real home kitchen! We enjoyed a delicious burger night, where everyone could build their own burger just the way they liked it — from the classic cheese-and-lettuce combo to the bold mix of sauces and toppings. The dining room was filled with laughter, the sound of friendly chatter, and the unmistakable smell of grilled goodness.

For dessert, we shared freshly baked cookies, the perfect sweet touch to end the meal. It was one of those cozy November evenings that remind us how nice it is to slow down and simply enjoy each other’s company.

A simple dinner, great food, and even better people — what more could we ask for?

Warmly,

The CDB Team

Karting, Sports and Fun: Our Weekend Recap

This weekend was packed with energy and variety! We kicked things off with a mix of exciting activities—cooking, climbing, tennis, and boxing—giving everyone a chance to try something new and stay active.

The highlight of the weekend was our special karting adventure. Speed, laughter, and a little friendly competition made it an unforgettable experience for all.

As the days grow colder, we’re starting to feel the change in the air, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying every moment. On Sunday night, we wrapped things up with a friendly football match, bringing everyone together for some fun under the crisp evening sky.

Celebrating Samuel K.’s 12th Birthday!

Dear all,

The celebration began the night before, when Samuel’s parting words at bedtime were:
“Now remember, Mr. Ronan — when you wake me up tomorrow, you must sing Happy Birthday! Give me a Woohoo!”

So we did — first thing in the morning and again at breakfast — and his smile stretched from ear to ear.

In the evening, Samuel received a surprise visit from his parents and family, which absolutely made his day. We continued the celebration with a delicious cake and a confetti cannon that added a burst of excitement to the night.

Happy Birthday, Samuel!
We wish you a joyful, successful, and fulfilling 12th year ahead.

Weekend Vibes at Champs des Bois!

Dear all,
After an excellent evening of trick-or-treating around the neighborhood with girls and boys from CDL, we welcomed a relaxing weekend at Champs des Bois. The energy of Friday night carried into a warm and friendly atmosphere.
On Saturday we spent the afternoon with the girls from Terray 27: a trip into town in Versoix for some shopping was just what we needed. Later, in the evening, we welcomed some friends from Portena and enjoyed a chill time in our living room — laughter, good company and nothing too hectic.
On Sunday, we had our first brunch with Manuel, the newest member of our house. It was a pleasure to share that relaxed moment together, getting to know him better — he’s adapting swiftly, and we’re delighted to welcome him into our home. After brunch we took a trip to Lausanne’s Aquatis: we immersed ourselves in the world of water — exploring aquatic life from all around the globe. The displays of many underwater species were both interesting and captivating.
A weekend of calm, connection and discovery — exactly what we loved. Here’s to many more!
Warm wishes,
The CDB Team

Happy Halloween & Welcome Manuel!

Dear all,

From the very start of the school day, it was clear that Halloween had taken over CDL! The campus was transformed into a realm of eerie enchantment, with spooky apparitions wandering the grounds and ghastly sights lurking around every corner. The atmosphere was electric with excitement and mystery!

As evening approached, anticipation for Trick-or-Treating reached a fever pitch. Everyone in the House—students and House Parents alike—embraced the spirit of the night, donning their costumes with enthusiasm and creativity. We were thrilled to welcome our newest boarder, Manuel, who joined us just in time for the festivities. We wish him all the best as he begins his journey with us and are confident he’ll thrive in our community.

Together with the girls from Terray 27 and other friends, we ventured through Versoix in search of sweets and surprises. But of course, Halloween isn’t just about treats—it’s about tricks too! A massive thank you to Mr. Traun and everyone in Concha House for turning their boarding house into a spine-chilling haunted house. It was a thrilling experience that added so much to the night!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this day and evening such a success. The boys had an unforgettable time, and the joy and laughter shared will be remembered for a long time to come.
