Volunteer Opportunities with ICV Volunteers

Who are we?

ICVolunteers (International Communications Volunteers) is an international non-profit organization specialized in the field of communications, in particular languages, communication technologies and conference support.

Through volunteer effort, we cooperate with organizations in the humanitarian, social, environmental and medical fields to implement projects and conferences at local, national and international levels.

We work with volunteers to implement social and educational programs in order to help populations and local communities to develop.

In addition, ICVolunteers promotes volunteerism and its recognition, by enhancing civic commitment and involvement, and by providing leadership and links between organizations, individuals and communities.

How to participate?

When volunteers register with ICVolunteers, we send them regular updates on upcoming projects. Once an individual decides to sign up for one, we will then send specific information related to the project.

Serve the City

CDL is collaborating with an NGO called Serve the city (http://www.servethecitygeneva.ch/)  on the weekend of Oct 1st. There shall be a series of Geneva-wide community service projects, with enough variety for everybody to find something they like.

The various activities are:

  • serving at the soup kitchen
  • helping set up equipment for a bike race that will raise funds for needy children
  • helping out at the bike race
  • showing kindness to the elderly in various ways
  • giving free hugs
  • facepainting

This may interest students who need CAS/REACH hours, but really, everybody is encouraged and welcome!

If you need any more info, please ask Stuart.allan@cdl.ch , Laurence.grabit@cdl.ch , or yasmeen.tawfik@cdl.ch .

UN Online Volunteering

UNV is inspired by the conviction that volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges worldwide.  Everyone can contribute their time, skills and knowledge through volunteer action, and their combined efforts can be a significant force for achieving peace and development.Volunteering makes important economic and social contributions, contributing to a more cohesive society by building trust and reciprocity among citizens. It can be both challenging and rewarding and require you to use your skills in a new context. You can also transfer useful knowledge while gaining a greater understanding of the issues affecting other people.

Through the UNV Online Volunteering service, volunteers can take action for sustainable human development by supporting the activities of development organizations over the Internet.
