Wellbeing Pillar 2

Champs des Bois had another house meeting today in which we discussed the wellbeing pillar. This week we specified on the topic racism and stereotypes. With so many different nationalities in the house, we feel this is an important subject to touch. To do this, we played a little game. We put out some statements and every time something applied to the children, we let them take a step forward. Statements varied from “Take a step if you feel like you have been judged because of where you come from” to “Take a step if you have ever bullied someone”. The children were great. They thought the situations through and answered honestly. Afterwards we talked more about how it made us feel and what we could do about this.

Free but Productive day

Today was the parent-teacher meeting, so it was a no school day for the kids.
We spent the day on the campus practicing different sports and having the chance to visit the nice town of Nyon in the afternoon.

Olympus Jam

Tonight after dinner, the Old Portena girls invited us to play a nice and friendly baskeball game. We didn’t expect that all the kids would become so competitive.

Very quickly, what was supposed to be a innocent child game became a high level sport event, each team would develop it own strategies, swap players to get always the best from them, and even ask for advice from House Parents.
At the end, the score was 1 : 1, but what a great time we all had!!!! See you next Thursday fort he return game.

Wellbeing Pillar 2!

In tonight’s Boarding Assembly and in CDB Family Meeting we introduced the children to our second wellbeing pillar.

We will be diving in to Protecting against bullying and Promoting diversity. We have some fantastic children’s books that the children will be reading over the next weeks, there is a lot the children can learn and at the end they will be able to spread their knowledge and open people eyes.

November Rain

Cold morning here in lovely Switzerland and today was a rainy one as well. We made sure to have our raincoats on and huddled under our umbrellas on the way to school. Remember to wrap up warm everybody!

Trick πŸ‘» or Treat 🍬

The light were off, the fog was at each conner and strange sound could be heard from the bushes…. We thought it would be the perfect moment to go and get some candies from the scared neighbours πŸ˜¬πŸ˜°πŸ™€πŸ˜§

You can see that we tried our best to look like our favorite character and give our best to get as much candies as we could carry.

Note: Candies shoud be eaten with moderation as they are bad for teeth πŸ˜‰

Personalised Pumpkins πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

Today on this very special day we gave the opportunity to each kid to express his craeativity. The four boys, that stayed with us for the weekend, got a little pumpkin that they could designed as they wished. But to avoid any “design incidents” during the process, we had a little drawing so they could be sure of what they wanted as a final result.
After a democratical vote πŸ—³ between all the residents of Champs des Bois, we choosed Zhiyu’s pumpkin design (the one on the left) as the most scary one πŸ‘».
But as a team we decided to represent all four of our pumpkins to the boarding competition, as a sign of the RISE values: Respect, Internationalism, Team Spirit and Excellence, and it was also a reference to our Rise statue on the Campus. πŸ˜‰

Smiles πŸ˜ƒ, Positive vibes πŸ₯° and Creativity πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨ helped us to enjoy this moment and spend a nice afternoon all together.

Old Times & Modern Kids

On this sunny autumn day, we went to Vevey, a very calm and neat town near the LΓ©man Lake, where Sir Charles Chaplin (aka Charlie Chaplin or Charlot) choose to move with his familly many years ago.
We could visit his sumptuous villa that was transformed in to a museum and a large than life cinema studio.
Even if most of the kids were to young to know Charlie Chaplin or even his movies, they could discover some of his most iconic artworks like Modern Times, the Dictator or the Kid.

Jump to celebrate πŸŽ‰

Nicholas had his birthday πŸŽ‚ just before the October break, but unfortunately he couldn’t celebrate it with friends. We finally could catch up with all his friend and go to have a very fun and sweet time at the Jump Spot in Lausanne.
