Chernobyl

Hello, I’m Andrey and I am from Russia. I will be talking about the city in Ukraine, Chernobyl.

It is a city with high levels of radiation in it, due to the Nuclear Power Plant explosion in 1986. Almost no excursions are allowed in the area of the city due to the radiation. Mostly, excursions take place in Pripyat, an abandoned city next to Chernobyl, but with a lower radiation level. I find that these cities are very interesting because of their post-apocalyptic looks and I would really like to go there at least once during my life.

Magic show

Today, Sunday 4th of May, we went to a magic show at a theatre near to our boarding house. We were very excited when we arrived there as we saw there were 50 people waiting to enter the room. After 10 minutes we entered the “Magic Room” and sat down on some comfortable chairs. The magician was very known all around the world, his name was Ben Hart. At one part of the show, he asked if anyone had a credit card, so I raised my hand. He called me on stage and made an impossible trick which made everyone clap and say “WOW”. My credit card  had disappeared then reappeared inside a playing card I had signed!!! It was a very good experience and I would like to learn his tricks also. Here is a picture of me enjoying myself on stage.

Moscow, Russia

My name is Vladimir Rebrik and I want to talk about my favourite city – Moscow.

This city is my favourite because all my life I was growing up in it. It is a beautiful city with amazing architecture and wonderful scenery. It is always busy with life and has a lot of places worth visiting, like Saint Basil’s Cathedral or the Red Square. The whole city has a feeling of history around it, contrasting with the new glass skyscrapers and lush parks.

Mamaia

Hello I am Gio Chicheanu and I am from Romania. Today I am going to talk about the most fun and attractive resort I have ever visited in my life.

Mamaia is a popular and modern resort in Romania, it is located north-east of Constanţa’s city centre. Mamaia is on the Black Sea. The beach season is best between June and September, when it can get as hot as 30 degrees Celsius! The water stays warm until mid autumn. It is a big attraction for teens and young adults because of its modern beaches and nightclubs, which are some of the best looking clubs in Europe. Hotels are from mid-end to exclusive 4 and 5 stars hotels. There are also camping sites in the north.

I hope you will visit this wonderful resort one day!

International week on our blog

Hello Everybody,

As we are at an international school, over the next week or so the boys are going to give you an idea of where they come from and places they have been or would like to visit. Every day for the next 10 days, one of the boys will post a blog about a place in the world of their choosing and tell you a little about it.

To start the ball rolling, I am originally from a small town very near to Edinburgh in Scotland. Edinburgh is a beautiful city with a long and interesting history. I love to go back to Edinburgh and spend a day wandering around its many fascinating landmarks. It is especially enjoyable during August when the international arts festival attracts thousands of performers and visitors from all walks of life. I know I am biased, but I really think that Edinburgh is one of the greatest cities in the world and I would encourage anybody to pay it a visit – you won’t regret it!

Welcome back and Happy belated birthday!

We are back in a rather cold wet and miserable Switzerland to start the “big push” to the end of the school year. It’s hard to believe as it feels like only yesterday that we were starting the school year! The boys all have a lot of work ahead of them to make sure they get the best grades possible in the third marking period and the end of year exams, but I am sure we will find the time to have some fun as well!

While we were on holiday, Andrey and Gio sneakily managed to arrange their 16th birthdays – very good planning on their part! A very happy birthday to both of you!
