VDL Weekend Activities Round-Up!

This weekend, the girls had a wide range of activities to choose from – and they made the most of it! From tennis, Pilates, boxing, and bodyshaping to lake adventures like banana boat rides and wakeboarding, there was something for everyone. Some opted for horse riding or joined the always popular art club, while others got creative in the cooking class or gave back through community service. It was great to see so many girls trying new things and enjoying time together. Well done!

On Sunday, we wrapped up the weekend with our first house competition of the year (sports day theme)! All eight boarding houses came together for a fun afternoon of games including the three-legged race, frisbee shot, bucket fill-up, cornhole, and tug of war. We’re proud to share that VDL placed 3rd – a strong start to the year with many more competitions to come!

Lausanne Day Trip!

To make the most of the Jeûne Genevois public holiday, the boarding department organised a fun and relaxed day trip to Lausanne – the Olympic Capital of the world!

The girls had time to explore the city, enjoy some shopping, and grab lunch in one of Lausanne’s many great spots. In the afternoon, we visited the Olympic Museum, where juniors took part in a guided visit and older students had the option to join. It was a great chance to learn about the history of the Games and enjoy the interactive exhibits.

Lausanne’s mixture of lakeside charm, culture, and city buzz made it the perfect destination for a midweek break!

Dinner at VDL!

This evening we had dinner at home in cosy Villa du Lac! The theme for tonight’s meal was kebab night. We ate delicious kebabs with pita bread and all kinds of toppings, enjoyed by plenty of lovely chats among the girls. It was a delicious chance to catch up and unwind during such a busy week of school trips!

All the best,

Happy 17th Birthday Nika!❤️

Today we’re celebrating Nika – one of our newest girls in VDL who has already become a positive presence in the house. In just a few weeks, she’s shown how friendly, independent, and thoughtful she is, ready to lend a hand and help others settle in, even while finding her own footing.

Nika brings an amazing sense of style and confidence to everything she does. She’s social, kind, and has a natural way of making people feel welcome! It’s been lovely getting to know her, and we’re excited to see all the moments and memories she’ll create this year!

Wishing you a fantastic birthday, Nika – we’re so glad you’re here!

Mountain Weekend Adventures

This past weekend, our boarding house headed up into the Swiss Alps for an unforgettable mountain trip. The Grades 11 and 12 students went to Verbier, while the Grades 9 and 10 students spent their time in Leysin.

Both groups had full days packed with activities. Between the hikes, team games, and mountain challenges, there was always something to do. We explored trails, tested our balance and courage in outdoor activities, and of course enjoyed plenty of laughs together.

Evenings were just as fun—sharing meals, relaxing with friends, and winding down after the fresh mountain air. It was a perfect mix of adventure and bonding, and everyone came back with new memories and closer friendships.

Weekends like this remind us how lucky we are to live and study in Switzerland, surrounded by such incredible landscapes.

Happy Birthday to Tea <3

We’re so excited to celebrate Tea’s birthday today! Even though she’s only been with us for a few weeks, she’s already brought such a fun and lively energy to the house. Her quick wit and humour make us all laugh, but she also has a gentle, kind side that makes her a joy to be around.

We hope today is full of love, laughter, and everything that makes you feel celebrated – because you truly deserve it.   We’re so happy to have you in our boarding family.

Happy birthday, Tea – here’s to a beautiful year ahead!

Weekend Fun at VDL – Lakeside Fun, Horses, Art & Yvoire!

We had a fantastic weekend full of activities and smiles here at Villa du Lac!

On Saturday, some of the girls hit the lake for wakeboarding and stand-up paddle boarding – even a bit of rain couldn’t stop them! Others tried horse riding and did an amazing job for just being a beginner, while a few enjoyed tennis with our coach. Art Club was a cozy favourite, with some girls even using the time to work on their IB Art portfolios – a perfect blend of relaxation and productivity.

Sunday started with a relaxing brunch, followed by some partaking in Pilates, stretching, or gardening. One of the Sunday highlights was a boat trip to Yvoire, a beautiful french medieval village known for its flower-filled streets and charming shops and cafés. The girls explored, took photos, and soaked up the atmosphere. Some chose golf instead and had a great time showing off their competitive side.

It was a weekend full of variety, laughter, and already creating great memories!

First Assembly and Welcome dinner

Our school year began brilliantly with a spirited first assembly, where warmth and community filled the hall. Later, we gathered for a cosy Swiss-themed welcome dinner. The evening’s hearty flavours and shared laughter made everyone feel right at home. It was a perfect blend of tradition and togetherness to start the year.

First Week Impressions: Swimming, Chocolate, and Bonding

The first week in our house has been full of energy, laughter, and new experiences. From the very first day, the students have been getting to know one another, sharing stories, and creating the first bonds that will grow stronger throughout the year. One of the highlights was spending time by the lake, enjoying water activities together. Between paddleboarding, kayaking, and simply relaxing in the sun, it was a wonderful way to build trust and teamwork while having fun.

Later in the week we set off on a trip to discover two iconic Swiss treasures. At the Cailler chocolate factory, everyone was fascinated to learn about the process of chocolate making—of course, tasting the samples was the sweetest part of the day. We then explored the charming medieval village of Gruyères, with its cobbled streets and mountain views, where the group enjoyed local traditions and plenty of laughter.

It has been a fantastic beginning, filled with discoveries and smiles. The girls are settling in beautifully, and the atmosphere in the house already feels warm and welcoming. We are excited for all the moments still to come and the memories we will create together this year.
