Winter Ball Weekend

The long anticipated Winter Ball weekend finally arrived and the whole of the boarding community spent a wonderful evening celebrating the end of the year with a beautiful meal, wonderful company, some inspiring and truly heartfelt speeches and a lot of dancing!

Elegance was the name of the game and the VDL girls did not disappoint. With an array of stunning looks, they graced the ball with smiles all around and had a great evening together.

It was great to see the girls having so much fun with their friends and when sore feet from dancing is the biggest complaint when the girls get home…you know it has been a good night!

โ„๏ธ Winter Concert ๐ŸŽถโœจ

Last night we enjoyed a beautiful Winter Concert, filled with music, talent, and a wonderful festive atmosphere. Our students truly shined on stage, delivering performances full of heart and creativity.

A special congratulations to Evelyn โ€” not only for her two amazing performances, but also for her fantastic help in organizing the event. Your dedication made a real difference. ๐ŸŒŸ

A warm bravo to Lily for her beautiful singing. Your voice brought so much emotion to the concert and created a magical moment for everyone. ๐ŸŽคโœจ

And of course, a big thank you to everyone who was there to support โ€” your presence and encouragement made the evening even more special.

Nights like this remind us how talented, kind, and supportive our community is.

๐Ÿซ Marmite de lโ€™Escalade at Villa du Lac ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This week we celebrated a beautiful Geneva tradition at the house โ€” the Marmite de lโ€™Escalade! Our students gathered together to learn about the history behind this local celebration and, of course, to enjoy the sweetest part: breaking the chocolate marmite.

Everyone joined in the fun, shared the famous โ€œAinsi pรฉrirent les ennemis de la Rรฉpublique!โ€ and enjoyed the surprise treats hidden inside. It was a cozy, joyful moment that brought our VDL community even closer.

A big thank you to all the students who joined us โ€” your energy and smiles made this tradition even more special. ๐Ÿฌโœจ

๐ŸŽ„Secret Santa – Sharing Joy at Villa du Lac ๐ŸŽ…โœจ

Yesterday we celebrated our Villa du Lac Secret Santa, and it was truly a lovely evening. The room was full of surprises, and warm holiday energy. Everyone arrived with beautifully wrapped gifts, and the excitement of guessing โ€œWho is my Secret Santa?โ€ made the moment even more special.

It was wonderful to see how thoughtful, funny, and creative the gifts were. Most importantly, everyone left happy, smiling, and feeling the spirit of our VDL community. Moments like these remind us how great it is to be part of this house โ€” sharing joy, kindness, and a bit of festive magic together.

Thank you to all the students for joining and making the celebration so memorable.
Happy holidays! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’›

Boarders of the Week: The Escalade Girls ๐ŸŒŸ

This week we are proud to recognize Polina, Dasha, Labenita, Vanessa, Veronika (Nika), Sofia, Katia, and Ildana for their incredible effort and determination during the Escalade Run over the weekend. Despite challenging weather conditions, they showed resilience and team spirit, never complaining and giving their best from start to finish.

The Escalade Run is a historic Geneva tradition commemorating the cityโ€™s victory over an attempted invasion in 1602. Today, it brings the community together in a spirited race through the old town – and our girls represented CDL brilliantly!

Congratulations to all of you for an amazing job!!

Alison, Monica, Karolina and Lana ๐Ÿ™‚

Sweet Creativity: Gingerbread House Competition ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ

We had so much fun building our gingerbread house! We spread out all the pieces, icing, and candies, and started assembling our little sweet masterpiece. There were a few wobbly moments (one wall almost fell!), but that was part of the fun. Decorating was the best partโ€”icing snow on the roof, candy trees, and little details made it feel magical. After a few hours of laughter, creativity, and a bit of chaos, our gingerbread house was ready. It might not be perfect, but itโ€™s full of charm and holiday spirit! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฌโ„๏ธ

Wish us luck! ๐Ÿคžโœจ #VDLTeam

5km on the rain our Villa du Lac Champions

Rain, mud, and cold didnโ€™t stop our incredible girls from giving their best during the Escalade run this weekend! Sofia, Ildana, Katia, Vanessa, Veronika, Dasha, Polina, and Labenita proudly completed the 5 km race under challenging weather conditions. Running in the rain is never easy โ€” it takes strength, determination, and a lot of motivation. But our girls showed all of that and more. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and perseverance truly represented Villa du Lac and the school in the best possible way. Well done, girls!
We are so proud of your effort, your spirit, and your amazing achievement.

Weekend Highlights at VDL

This weekend offered a fantastic mix of activities for our girls to enjoy. Saturday began with a hands-on baking class where the girls learned to make a delicious apple and raspberry crumble. For those who wanted to stay active, the running club was a great option, while art club; always a favourite provided space for creativity. A special highlight was the voluntary weekend trip to Disneyland Paris, which many of the girls joined, making the most of the opportunity for fun travel. Others chose to give back to the community by volunteering at our local Coop supermarket for Samedi du Partage (a twice-yearly initiative in Geneva where volunteers collect food and hygiene products for over fifty charities supporting people in need).

Sunday continued the momentum with a variety of activities, including a relaxing stretching session, a trip to the Montreux Christmas Market – one of the most beautiful markets in the region – and chess club for those who enjoy a strategic challenge. It was a weekend full of choice, energy, and community spirit.
