We All Missed The Reading Club! ๐Ÿ“š

As the kids go back to their weekly routines, they resume boarding activities they used to do when they were here. Although sometimes they complain a tiny bit about it, our twice-a-week Concha Reading Club is the perfect opportunity for them to relax and disconnect after a long day before going to sleep.

We join them, as we believe reading is a journey we can get inspiration from and this activity helps us learn more vocabulary in our language or any other language we are reading. Mr Sam was in charge of explaining the meanings of those words they did not know about, such as supper or rehearsal. One thing we love about this is when they passionately explain what they read. It is interesting to know what books they are keen on and how their tastes differ from one another.

The Return of the Concha Basketball Crew ๐Ÿ€

In August, three kids coming from different Chinese cities united pursuing a common passion: basketball!

Jiarui, Tim and Fanbo have been playing lots of basketball matches together throughout the year and during the holidays, the first thing they were thinking of doing when returning to the Boarding House was playing basketball with one another. As they have some social time every day, today, they took advantage of this time and went to the Olympus basketball court to play some friendly Basketball matches. Isn’t it incredible how sports can bring kids coming from different cities together and make them create everlasting friendship bonds? ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

First Study Hall After The Holidays ๐Ÿ“š

Coming back to the Boarding House was not going to be all about fun activities, going to downtown Geneva or enjoying the Concha pool. The kids have also returned to their previous routines, which involve study halls. During these hours, they finish their homework, ask us for help, put their organisation and time management skills into practice and prepare for their summatives.

With finals coming up in June, our kids are aware they have to make the most out of these hours and make extra efforts to ensure success in their exams. Come on, Concha boys! You can do it! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Martin did not like the idea of going back to Study Halls but…in the end he enjoyed it! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

We Are So Back! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

After two intense weeks of holidays, this weekend we have been gradually receiving our Concha boys, who were looking forward to coming and sharing their holidays stories with us and their other friends in the house.

Some of them stayed at home, others went to the beach and others went back and forth different exotic destinations we were impressed to hear about. Since they came back from different Asian, American and European countries, most of them were jet-lagged and needed to rest for a couple of hours. Then, they went on doing what they enjoy the most whilst here: play basketball, grocery shopping, visiting Geneva and eating in some nice restaurants and spending time with their favourite House Parents and Concha friends!

Since they had no school on Monday, we decided to take advantage of the good Swiss weather and took them for a walk to the lake once they were done unpacking. It was a nice way to breath some fresh air, spend time outside and catch up with the rest. At night, they went to bed early to recharge their batteries for the first day of the last term!

Filling Middle East Dinner Before The April Break ๐Ÿฅ™

Most of our kids found it a bit strange that we had our dinner at home today. As they are leaving this week and by Thursday some of them will be already gone, the Boarding Team decided to make it happen today so as for a greater number of kids to enjoy this bonding experience with their House Parents.

This week we had food from the Middle East. The main dish was chicken kebab with potatoes on one side. We also got to drink some peach iced tea and taste delicious, mouth-watering cream puff pastries. As the weather was nice, we sat with the Concha Boys in the garden and enjoyed the view.

Boarding For The Win: Boarders vs Day Students ๐Ÿ€

Today, Fanbo, Jiarui, Emir, Tim, Vincent and Sam had an important basketball match against the day students team. They trained hard to do their best in the match. Some of them scored some points and their moves and strategies were impressive! They communicated, passed the ball to one another regularly as an actual, united team and cheered one another up even from the bench!

They have demonstrated they fight hard to reach their objectives and do not lack strategy skills. Well done, boys!
