Football For A Good Cause

Sorel, Dario, Kenneth, Fede and Javi all took part in a 3v3 football tournament organised by the staff and students going to the upcoming Tanzania School Trip. The tournament was a charity event to raise money for children in need in Tanzania. It was a great turn out, lots of students made teams and gave donations, making sure to have a great competion at the same time.

Well done and thank you boys!

Climbing Higher With Friends

So happy to see lots of the Concha Climbing Crew join the club this Saturday! Artem, Ege, Fede and Kenneth really challenged themselves today, showing grit and perseverance on the wall. Fede showed off some great techniques using his body positioning to help him reach higher. We also spoke about the importance of ”reading the route”. Before you climb you should always try to visualise the hand movements and footwork that you will need to get to the top, this will help your flow when you climb instead of having to stop, think and look for the next hand holds.

They all did great – Well done boys!

Concha Reading Club

Reading Club is feeling like it’s beginning to grow on the boys. They pick up the book of their choice and settle down on the sofa to immerse themselves in the worlds the authors made for them.

Lots of well written summaries and nicely explained stories in the boys reading diaries.

Lacing Up Their New Boots

Another succesful shopping trip, Kenneth and Alex bought some new football boots. The big question is who’s are cooler. So of course they came to their trusted House Parents to solve this dispute.

They’re tied with one vote each at the moment – Which boots do you like best?

What do you think? Who’s are cooler?

Evening Comfort Food

Grilled cheese has to be the number one choice when it come to a quick comfort food snack. These delicious treats were made with flare by our own Chef Alex. A bit of a mediterranean twist with these chorizo, jamon serrano and menchego cheese toasties.

Understandably, he didn’t save us a bite.

Yum!

No Cameras In Reading Club Please!

Boarding Orientation Weekend in Leysin

On Friday afternoon, the boys packed their bags and headed to Leysin for Boarding Orientation Weekend. Everyone made it onto the bus—though a few moved at their own pace!

The weekend was filled with adventure. Some trekked down from the summit of Mt. Berneuse after a cable car ride, enjoying breathtaking views. Others learned survival skills, from building shelters to starting fires. Our Orienteering group mastered map and compass work, while the Rock Climbers showed courage scaling new heights. The Mountain Biking team pushed through steep climbs and sped down thrilling descents.

It was a weekend of challenge, discovery, and teamwork—an inspiring start to the year.

Reading Club Is Back!

We missed the reading club over the summer, I’m sure some of us managed to get our heads down and read some chapters over the break but it’s not the same as reading collectively and sharing our thoughts, opinions and new vocabulary. It’s great to hear the pages turn and see the children’s brains at work – deep in their own imaginations. We will be running the reading club every Monday and Thursday as always here, on the Concha House sofas!

Happy to be back in a book!
