NAE Football and Basketball Tournament – Budapest

Nord Anglia Education’s Football and Basketball Tournament for Girls and Boys is being hosted in Budapest this year. A team of star talents were selected and flew to Budapest at beginning of the week to represent the Collège du Léman Panthers.

Our Sam, Grade 8, is the Panther’s goal-keeper and has been trying his best to to keep the ball out of the net. He is enjoying this tournament and making the most of an amazing experience.

Not lacking in confidence…

Green Fields and Blue Skies

Nice to see the sun was shining toda, we definitely made the right call to get the boys out of the house. We headed over to the football field and played a quick match of football, then we mixed it up with some keepy-ups and 3 vs 1.

It was nice to have some of the Olympus boys join us as well.

Nice pass Fanyang!

Control it Javi!

Call for it boys!

A Real Trip To The North

Some of the most beautiful scenes in the world, a land fill with a certain mystique and magic – Iceland.

The land of fire and ice is well know for it’s volcanic activity, stunning waterfalls and glaciers. The Boarding Trip to Iceland had the students in awe viewing the Northern Lights, bathing in naturally heated lagoons and some tough treks though some adventurous paths.

Zhengtai came back to Collège du Léman almost speechless at all the wonders he had seen, especially the waterfalls.

Welcome Back Ski Campers

After a week of adventure in the Swiss Alps the students couldn’t wait to tell us all the stories of their days skiing, snowboarding, sledging, ice-skating and so much more.

These type of trips are so special and always remain for so many students some of the best memories of Collège du Léman. It’s truly amazing to see how joyful they all returned.

Who’s under those masks? Eduardo & Firdavs

Looking cool Fanyang!

Don’t worry, “ski” happy!

Run Gianni, Run!

Mr. Jack took the Running Club to our local Sports Centre here in Versoix where most of the facilities are free to use. There, the children had a chance to run around the athletics track. For some of them it was their first time ever running on a professional track and they were surprised by the bounciness of every step.

It’s nice to see the Running Club varying from forest paths, lake-side runs and athletics track. Also, it’s great to have Gianni join and he really appreciates Mr. Jack’s motivating words when he can feel his energy dropping. Well done Gianni and thanks Mr. Jack!

Gianni is the pace setter out in front.

Reading For Fun As A Teen

Helping young adolescents understand how beneficial reading can be for them is not an easy task. In Concha Boarding House we have a bi-weekly Reading Club that regularly starts with us dragging the children into the living room and persuading them to grab a book to read.

You can imagine the push back we get everytime we even mention the words Reading Club, tonight was no different. Especially as some of the boys went to the Valentine’s Dance this afternoon. We really didn’t expect them to be willing to take part in the club. It started off as usual with the expected push back but the boys settled down calmy and did some reading; success!

After these weeks there is definatley one thing I have really noticed about this Reading Club. As much as the children a reluctant to join and it’s a struggle to get them started, when we tell them times up they will always continue to read. It’s these moments you see that the children are invested in their books and won’t stop immediately when told but would rather get to the end of their sentence, paragraph, page or chapter. I’m sure with consistency and finding books the children really enjoy, we can light the spark for them to start reading more and pick up books in their free time just for fun.
