Apollo and Michael – stars in the making!

This week, our wonderful Theatre team has arranged a Dr. Seuss themed production, or the “Seussical”, featuring two of our boys, Apollo and Michael! The boys have worked incredibly hard to being their performances to life, and are incredibly proud of the production. They both play integral roles in the play and have written a small account of their experiences to share the fun that they’ve had:

The flavours of Thailand!

This week, despite us nearing the end of the academic year, our wonderful dining team took us on a culinary tour of Thailand as part of our international dinner series! Spicy beef, tender chicken, chewy noodles and fragrant rice were all on the menu, as well as some delicious seasoned tofu that paired well with the fresh produce in our legendary salad bar. Today’s international dinner allowed the boys to appreciate each other’s company and gave them time to relax with some excellent food following their exams held this week. Our boys have been working incredibly hard and so greatly appreciated an opportunity to wind down – we hope you enjoyed the dinner, boys!

Friendly match: Boarding Football Team CDL vs British School of Geneva

After a long, suffered and fierce match, the Boarding Football Team came victorious against the British School of Geneva. Our team won with the final score of 6-5, thanks to a last minute deserved final penalty, magnificently shot by Nicholas. All our players, after a slow start and a few errors, demonstrated resilience, team spirit and sacrifice, which indeed lead us to victory. Thank you very much to the whole team and the coach to bring us joy and make us proud.

Sports Award: Adi

This morning was the Sports Awards Ceremony. This ceremony is held to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the students. Among the winners was Adi. A Leman boy who stood out for his enthusiasm, dedication and motivation in representing his volleyball team.

Congratulations Adi!

Celebrating our Grade 12s!

Our Grade 12 students are completing their exams this week, representing the final step in their academic journeys at Collège du Léman. As many of our boys who have completed their exams will be leaving the boarding house in preparation for their graduation ceremony next month, we have begun to prepare the house to ensure that they are properly celebrated.

Congratulations on nearing the end of the exam season, boys!

We look forward to having you back soon for your graduation!

A warm weekend of fun!

This weekend, warmer temperatures and less rain gave our boys the opportunity to maximise the time spent outside, enjoying all of the benefits brought by this region of Switzerland. Wakeboarding was a clear favourite, as was golf and climbing. Some of our boys also had the opportunity to travel by boat across the lake to Yvoire, a beautiful French lakeside village full of delicious food and refreshing ice cream. All in all, this weekend was a much-needed opportunity for the boys to relax following a week of exams and socialise with their peers as we enter the last month of the school year. We hope that you enjoyed your weekend, boys, and long may the weather continue!

Happy International Day!

Today we celebrated International Day in Middle school and High School. Some of our boys have prepared and sold some food and drinks from their country like Stefan from Romania, Oscar, Franco and Samuel from Spain, Momo and Iskender persian food…

In the boarding community we also wanted to celebrate it with a video where boarders and staff members speak in their native languages and answer the question what do you miss most about your country.

The Flavours and Tastes of Japan!

This week, as part of the ongoing International Dinner programme, the boys were taken to Japan through the delicious cooking done by our dining staff! Juicy chicken skewers, fluffy rice and sauteed vegetables were on the menu, as were crunchy and protein-packed edamame beans. This dinner gave the boys an opportunity to learn about Japanese culture and flavour profiles from the comfort of our dining room, spending time and conversing with their peers whilst enjoying some good food and fuelling up for upcoming exams.

24 Hour Running Challenge – running for Cancer research

We are immensely proud of all the boys who took part on this initiative. While the Run started at 11am on Saturday, our boys braved the hours of the night and first sun rays of the morning to make this adventure more fun, and more meaningful.

Individually, in pairs or as a group, over 20 boys of the Léman House completed their relays, some of them accumulating over 4 relays of 30 minutes, running over 20Kms. As a group they showed a wonderful spirit of sacrifice, pushed themselves physically and mentally to show their support to all the people suffering from Cancer.

International Dinner: Turkey

Tonight we had a delicious Turkish dinner. Normally when we talk about Turkish food, kebab comes to mind, but their gastronomy is much broader than that. This time we had Pilavi (Cracked Wheat Pilaf), Börek (Cheese & Spinach Pastry) and chicken with vegetables.

Afiyet olsun!

Football match: El clasico

Today was the classic of Spain. The football match between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The boys got together in the living room and watched it together. There were supporters of both teams so there were mixed feelings. In the end the score ended up 4-3 with Barcelona winning the clasico.

Boarding Auction: Personalised cake for Aijuka

The other day Aijuka won a personalised cake made by Mr Iker at the Boarding Auction. The guys decided they wanted a burnt Basque cheesecake. This cake is originally from San Sebastian, where Mr Iker is from as well. The boys enjoyed it tonight and it was the icing on the cake for a great weekend where they met up with friends from last year.

Hitting the Lake in Léman!

This weekend, following a rather dreary week, the sun finally appeared, giving the boys the chance to experience the joys that Lake Geneva has to offer! Despite a slight chill in the water, great fun was had by our boys who went Wakeboarding, going on the lake for the first time this year. Great fun was also had by our other boarders, who enjoyed a variety of other excellent opportunities, including Golf, Tennis and a visit to the Biopark Zoo! We hope you enjoyed your weekend, boys.

Happy Birthday, Rui!

The Léman boarding team would like to take this opportunity to wish Rui a very Happy Birthday! Profite bien!

It has been his first birthday outside of home for Rui and even he usually does not celebrate it much, we wanted to do a small gathering so he can have a special moment with some of his friends and the people who care about him.

The Flavours of New Zealand!

This week, our very kind dining staff took us on a trip to New Zealand, preparing a variety of delicious dishes for us to eat. Tender and juicy lamb and soft, sweet potatoes were on the menu, giving us insights into the delightful flavours of New Zealand. Kiwi fruit was, of course, also on the menu and was enjoyed by all! Whilst New Zealand is known for its rich indigenous cultures, the kiwi bird and its prowess in rugby union, this evening showed us all that the country has some delightful flavours to offer!

Formula E trip!

Cheickna and Domiciano went on an IBCP to Monaco to watch the Formula E, here what Cheickna had to say:

Friday:
We went on a plane, and the flight took about 40 minutes. After landing, we took a train and then walked to the hotel. Once we arrived, we split into two groups: one group visited a museum, while the other participated in “Girls on Track.”

The museum had a classic theme, with cars displayed on the walls and on the ground. Their history was shown on electronic tablets. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant that used electronic tablets instead of traditional menus. Later in the evening, we visited the beach.

Saturday:
We went to watch the Grand Prix. Later, we dined at the Café de Paris in the city of Gaya.

A Spring Weekend on Campus

This spring weekend on campus was full of energy and good vibes, with tons of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. The tennis and badminton courts were packed with students playing casual matches, while others gathered around the football pitch to cheer on their friends in some exciting games. Karate sessions added a bit of action and flair, and for those wanting to make a difference, groups of students went around campus picking up rubbish to help keep the place clean. There was even some climbing for the thrill-seekers looking for a bit of adventure. All in all, it was a lively weekend that brought people together and made the most of the sunny weather.

24 HOUR Running Challenge!

From the weekend of 17th to 18th May, our boarding staff and students will undertake a significant challenge. Over the course of 24 hours, they will run continuously, day and night, to raise awareness and funds in support of the fight against cancer.
