Merry Christmas πŸŽ„β€οΈ

The first semester has come to an end, and we can’t help but feel a mix of emotions.

It’s been a time full of incredible moments and adventures that will stay in our memories forever. We kicked it off with the Mountain Weekend, an adventure that helped us get to know each other better and set the tone for so many amazing experiences. Honestly, we haven’t stopped! If we weren’t enjoying weekend activities, we were off on exciting trips to places like Disneyland Paris, Europa Park, or Lucerne. Sharing all of this with you has been absolutely wonderful.

And it wasn’t just the big momentsβ€”our day-to-day life together has been just as special: every Wednesday’s International Dinner, our House Meetings, the chats and laughs in the office…

The most beautiful part of these months has been creating such a special environment, where people from all over the world have come together to form a little family. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish you a wonderful Christmas with your families.

Sending you a big hug…

See you………………. next year! 🀭🩷

Secret Santa in VDL πŸŽ…πŸ’–

Yesterday was an evening full of emotions at VDL house. We celebrated our traditional Secret Santa, a magical moment filled with laughter, hugs, and secret gifts that brought us even closer together. The girls put so much effort into choosing the perfect details for their friends, and the result was simply delightful. During the gift exchange, we enjoyed delicious homemade hot chocolate with whipped cream. 🎁✨

It was also a bittersweet evening, as we had to say goodbye to some of our companions who won’t be returning after Christmas. Ana Teresa, Sophia, and Triana, we will miss you so much. You will always be part of the VDL family, and we wish you all the best on your new journeys. πŸ’Œ

Although we are all excited to return home and celebrate with our families, we know we will also miss our beloved VDL and the unique moments we have shared here.

Winter Ball 2024 πŸŽ„ ❄️ πŸͺ©

This years winter ball was a huge success and everyone had a ball! Β From the elegant attire to the incredible music and speeches, the evening was filled with unforgettable moments that brought our school community together in the most magical way.

As the evening unfolded, the atmosphere was alive with excitement and anticipation. Students arrived in their finest outfits, with beautiful dresses and sharp suits adding that extra sparkle to the already glittering event.

The night kicked off with a delicious dinner that got everyone talking. Following the meal, we were treated to inspiring speeches from Mr. Usher and our Head Boys and Girls. Their heartfelt words reflected the hard work and dedication that makes our school community so special, and their messages truly resonated with everyone in the room.

But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the dance floor! The students danced the night away and enjoyed entertainment provided by our talented student DJs, who kept the energy high and the tunes pumping all night long. The dance floor was filled with laughter, cheers, and, of course, some impressive dance moves.

This years winter ball was one to remember and it is safe to say that everyone had an amazing time.Β  A huge thank you to all the students, staff, and volunteers who helped make this event a huge success.

Boarders of the week

Well done Sedef and Yoli for receiving boarder of the week!!

Both girls had their art work displayed in an exhibition at Webster art gallery last week. A lot of time, effort and creativity went into creating their pieces. This is an amazing achievement an exciting experience for both girls as artists and students. Well done! πŸ™‚

House Activity – personalised mug painting πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨πŸ΅

Today saw the Villa du Lac family coming together for our House Activity and the creative talent on display was really quite something!

Every member of the House, students and staff alike, chose a mug and decorated it in whatever style they liked. From favourite cartoon characters to beloved pets, favourite quotes to important dates, and an array of designs worthy of a home decorating store, the girls put their personal stamp on their mugs before we transferred them to the ovens to set the paints.

It was a lovely way to spend an evening together and we feel truly blessed to be able to share moments like this together πŸ’•

Creativity and Flavor at the Gingerbread House Competition!

This weekend, our boarding house was filled with festive spirit and creativity. Last Sunday, the students from Villa du Lac came together to participate in the much-anticipated Gingerbread House Competition, and it was a huge success!

What could be better than decorating a house with your own personal touch, full of candies and frosting, and then enjoying it afterward? That’s exactly what our girls did. Every detail of our gingerbread house reflected their holiday cheer and the joy of sharing this special moment.

We’re proud to announce that Villa du Lac earned third place in the competition, going up against some truly impressive creations from other teams. Although the competition was tough, there’s not a crumb left of their creationβ€”they thoroughly enjoyed every bite!

This activity not only left us with a sweet memory but also brought the holiday spirit alive among our students, filling the afternoon with laughter, camaraderie, and the magic of this special season.

Congratulations to our girls for this achievement and to all the participants for their incredible efforts! We continue to create unforgettable memories that celebrate creativity and togetherness.

Our Weekend: Races, Chocolate, and Creativity

This weekend has been a whirlwind of fun, effort, and, of course, hot chocolate!

Several of our girls laced up their trainers and brought their competitive spirit to La Escalade, the famous race in the heart of Geneva’s historic Old Town. It was tough, but they gave it their all, spurred on by the cheers of the crowd. Afterwards, we returned home with tired muscles, proud hearts, and a well-deserved cup of hot chocolate to recharge.

Meanwhile, another group embraced the holiday spirit with a visit to the charming Christmas Market in Montreux, one of the most magical in Switzerland. Surrounded by lights, music, and festive treats, they enjoyed a “chaud chocolat” with cream that, according to them, could almost rival the one we make at home.

Back at the house, the energy was buzzing. Our usual activities like stretching, pilates, badminton, tennis, and karate kept many busy, but the highlight was the epic gingerbread house competition. Creativity and laughter filled the air as the girls crafted beautiful masterpieces, ready for tomorrow morning’s big contest.

It has been a weekend full of laughter, unforgettable moments, and sweetness. Now, time to recharge for tomorrow! 😊
