Weekend Highlights at VDL

This weekend offered a fantastic mix of activities for our girls to enjoy. Saturday began with a hands-on baking class where the girls learned to make a delicious apple and raspberry crumble. For those who wanted to stay active, the running club was a great option, while art club; always a favourite provided space for creativity. A special highlight was the voluntary weekend trip to Disneyland Paris, which many of the girls joined, making the most of the opportunity for fun travel. Others chose to give back to the community by volunteering at our local Coop supermarket for Samedi du Partage (a twice-yearly initiative in Geneva where volunteers collect food and hygiene products for over fifty charities supporting people in need).

Sunday continued the momentum with a variety of activities, including a relaxing stretching session, a trip to the Montreux Christmas Market – one of the most beautiful markets in the region – and chess club for those who enjoy a strategic challenge. It was a weekend full of choice, energy, and community spirit.

✨ Disneyland Paris: Magical Weekend ✨

Past weekend we traded our usual schedules for something a little more… magical!
Our group took a trip to Disneyland Paris, and honestly — what an adventure.

From the moment we walked through the gates, the excitement was real. The castle was shining, the music was playing, and everyone suddenly remembered what it feels like to be a kid again.

We tried the big rides (yes, there was screaming), we watched the parade, we ate Disney-shaped snacks that definitely weren’t on the healthy list, and we took more photos than we’d like to admit.

The energy was amazing, the group spirit was even better, and by the end of the day we were tired, happy, and full of new memories.

A huge thank you to everyone for the enthusiasm and the good vibes —
Disneyland, we will be back!

Wellbeing Pillar Focus: Body Image!

This week, our house came together to explore the important topic of body image. In a safe and supportive space, the girls reflected on what the term means to them and discussed how insecurities around body image are often learned rather than innate. The session encouraged everyone to think critically about the influences that shape how we feel about ourselves and how societal pressures can be challenged.

As part of the workshop, the girls shared their thoughts and feelings, then finished by writing positive messages – both to themselves and for younger students – on decorative sticky notes. The comments were inspiring and the discussion was thought-provoking, reminding us of the power of kindness and self-acceptance.
