This week, our Border of the Week winner is Cayla, who left us deeply impressed with her brilliant presentation at COP. Her talk, which addressed the crucial role of Indigenous communities in China in the fight against climate change, reminded us of the importance of including their voices in a just transition to a more sustainable future.
Cayla explained how Indigenous communities are not only facing the harshest consequences of climate change, but also how they are guardians of ancestral knowledge and practices that could be key to mitigating these effects. She highlighted the urgent need for public policies that protect their territorial rights, ensure equitable access to climate resources, and defend their territorial sovereignty, allowing for a just transition for all.
We are incredibly proud of her participation in such an important event, and to see how her work contributes to raising awareness among the next generation about climate justice. Congratulations, Cayla, for being an inspiration to us all! This is undoubtedly just the beginning of your amazing journey toward a fairer and more sustainable world. πβ¨
