🌼Happy February break 🌼

February Break

Happy February Break from All of Us at Villa du Lac!

It’s hard to believe, but February break has arrived faster than we could have imagined. Time seems to be flying by, and with the hustle of the first part of the school year behind us, we’re all in need of some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

We want to wish everyone in CDL a great and restful week off! Whether you’re spending your break with family near or far, heading off on a ski week in Crans Montana, or braving the cold (and hoping for a glimpse of the Northern Lights) in Iceland, we hope this break fills your cup up with adventure, rest and fun.

No matter where you’re headed or how you’re spending the break, we hope this time gives you the chance to recharge, explore new places, or simply take a moment to unwind.

The house will reopen on March 1st from 09:00 am and all students are to return to the house by 18:30 on March 2nd.

We look forward to seeing you all back soon and we hope that you have a fantastic February break.

The best of wishes,

The Villa du Lac team ⭐️

Happy Lunar New Year

Happy Luna New Year!🐲🐉

Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar.

A number of the girls in Villa du Lac celebrate the Luna new year and we asked them to share with us some of their traditions and insights.

One such tradition is to make dumplings, by wishing for a prosperous and lucky year. They explained how each New Year is linked to one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac and 2025 is the Year of the sixth animal in the zodiac cycle: the Snake, which symbolises wisdom, elegance and intuition.

While people celebrate with fireworks to light up the sky, Villa Du Lac girls embraced the festive spirit by celebrating joyfully at one of their favorite Chinese restaurants near Geneva, creating a special atmosphere.
Would you be curious to know the mix of emotions our girls have felt during video calls with their families who showed the red decorations adorning the house as well as the reception of red envelopes of money which, beyond the money in red envelopes received from older relatives.  Each packet carries a special connection to the person who gave it, making it a gift filled with love.

Kiki and Katia Shine at the Boarding House Music Concert

This evening Kiki and Katia, took center stage at their class music concert. As part of their music class, both Kiki and Katia played key roles in setting the tone for the evening, performing together as part of a dynamic group.

Kiki on the guitar and Katia playing the piano  kicked off the concert with an energising introduction song. As part the opening group , they gave the audience a taste of what was to come—an evening full of stunning performances from talented singers and musicians alike.

The evening was filled with warmth and joy as teachers, friends, and family gathered to support the performers. It was an enjoyable and memorable event for all, with the perfect balance of talent, camaraderie, and community.

Well done, Katia and Kiki, for your exceptional performance!

Villa du Lac’s Weekend!!

Well it has been yet another busy weekend for the Villa du Lac girls!!!

The grade 11s and 12s headed up the mountain to Crans Montana for a weekend on the slopes!! Whether skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sledging or bowling, a wonderful time was had by all. For some it was their first experience in the alps, and Crans Montana did not disappoint with beautiful weather and views all around. Here’s a peak at what they got up to!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch (aka Villa du Lac), the grade 9s and 10s enjoyed a slightly more relaxing weekend with a variety of activities and the chance for our newest students – Elena, Sophia and Rochelle – to get to know their peers and their surroundings a little bit better.

Obligatory Saturday shopping trips in Geneva completed, we changed the pace with a quiet evening art session to create a few more beautifully painted mugs – kudos to Elena for her flag game, and Rochelle for her patience and attention to detail!

On Sunday, a number of the girls took the chance to test their balance as they skated around the local Versoix ice rink before coming home to the peace and tranquility of a very quiet House, and baking a huge batch of brownies to welcome back the grade 11s and 12s.

We finished the weekend off by celebrating Lucia’s birthday with our freshly baked brownies and a delicious cheesecake before everyone tumbled in to bed, ready to start the new week.

Here’s wishing you all a fabulous week ahead!

The Villa du Lac Team 😊

Winter Ball 2024 🎄 ❄️ 🪩

This years winter ball was a huge success and everyone had a ball!  From the elegant attire to the incredible music and speeches, the evening was filled with unforgettable moments that brought our school community together in the most magical way.

As the evening unfolded, the atmosphere was alive with excitement and anticipation. Students arrived in their finest outfits, with beautiful dresses and sharp suits adding that extra sparkle to the already glittering event.

The night kicked off with a delicious dinner that got everyone talking. Following the meal, we were treated to inspiring speeches from Mr. Usher and our Head Boys and Girls. Their heartfelt words reflected the hard work and dedication that makes our school community so special, and their messages truly resonated with everyone in the room.

But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the dance floor! The students danced the night away and enjoyed entertainment provided by our talented student DJs, who kept the energy high and the tunes pumping all night long. The dance floor was filled with laughter, cheers, and, of course, some impressive dance moves.

This years winter ball was one to remember and it is safe to say that everyone had an amazing time.  A huge thank you to all the students, staff, and volunteers who helped make this event a huge success.
