Weekend Highlights at VDL

This weekend offered a fantastic mix of activities for our girls to enjoy. Saturday began with a hands-on baking class where the girls learned to make a delicious apple and raspberry crumble. For those who wanted to stay active, the running club was a great option, while art club; always a favourite provided space for creativity. A special highlight was the voluntary weekend trip to Disneyland Paris, which many of the girls joined, making the most of the opportunity for fun travel. Others chose to give back to the community by volunteering at our local Coop supermarket for Samedi du Partage (a twice-yearly initiative in Geneva where volunteers collect food and hygiene products for over fifty charities supporting people in need).

Sunday continued the momentum with a variety of activities, including a relaxing stretching session, a trip to the Montreux Christmas Market – one of the most beautiful markets in the region – and chess club for those who enjoy a strategic challenge. It was a weekend full of choice, energy, and community spirit.

✨ Disneyland Paris: Magical Weekend ✨

Past weekend we traded our usual schedules for something a little more… magical!
Our group took a trip to Disneyland Paris, and honestly — what an adventure.

From the moment we walked through the gates, the excitement was real. The castle was shining, the music was playing, and everyone suddenly remembered what it feels like to be a kid again.

We tried the big rides (yes, there was screaming), we watched the parade, we ate Disney-shaped snacks that definitely weren’t on the healthy list, and we took more photos than we’d like to admit.

The energy was amazing, the group spirit was even better, and by the end of the day we were tired, happy, and full of new memories.

A huge thank you to everyone for the enthusiasm and the good vibes —
Disneyland, we will be back!

Wellbeing Pillar Focus: Body Image!

This week, our house came together to explore the important topic of body image. In a safe and supportive space, the girls reflected on what the term means to them and discussed how insecurities around body image are often learned rather than innate. The session encouraged everyone to think critically about the influences that shape how we feel about ourselves and how societal pressures can be challenged.

As part of the workshop, the girls shared their thoughts and feelings, then finished by writing positive messages – both to themselves and for younger students – on decorative sticky notes. The comments were inspiring and the discussion was thought-provoking, reminding us of the power of kindness and self-acceptance.

Boarder of the Week: Marjorie 🌟

Even though we celebrate excellence every week through our Boarder of the Week programme, this week is extra special as it’s Excellence Week within CDL Boarding. We are proud to recognize Marjorie for her outstanding achievements and positive presence in our community.

Marjorie and her team – the CDL Senior Volleyball Team – claimed victory at the annual Nord Anglia Senior Volleyball Tournament in Madrid, showcasing incredible skill and teamwork. Beyond her athletic success, Marjorie continues to impress with her helpful and positive attitude in the house, always ready to support others and contribute to a welcoming environment.

Thank you, Marjorie, for embodying excellence both on and off the court!!

Cooking Sessions: Starting With Italian Bruschetta & Pesto Pasta

This week, Monica launched her new regular cooking sessions for Grade 12 — a project designed to help the girls become more independent before heading off to university. The first class focused on simple, healthy Italian classics: bruschetta and pesto pasta.

By learning how to prepare fresh food instead of relying on takeaways, the girls are not only gaining practical skills but also building confidence, responsibility, and healthy habits for the future. These sessions are meant to show them that cooking can be easy, fun, and empowering — an important step in growing up and taking care of themselves.

More recipes and skills coming soon as the journey continues!

🏆 CDL Wins the Senior Volleyball Tournament in Madrid! 🏆

We are thrilled to share that Marjorie and the CDL Senior Volleyball Team won the annual Nord Anglia Senior Volleyball Tournament in Madrid!

Over two days of competition, the team showed outstanding teamwork, determination, and school spirit. Marjorie played a key role in the team’s success, contributing to strong performances throughout the tournament.

The players returned home proud and energized after an unforgettable experience — both on and off the court.

Congratulations to Marjorie and the whole team on this fantastic achievement! We are proud of you. 🎉🏐✨

🌟 A Weekend Full of Activities at VdL!

This weekend was truly special — filled with diverse activities, great energy, and lots of fun.

We took part in Woodcraft & Cooking, creating beautiful handmade projects and delicious dishes. We also had the Climbing Cup, where Arina represented our house — we’re very proud of her!

Our favorite regular activities were also there: badminton, the beloved Art Club, magic card tricks, bodyshaping, pilates, stretching, and our musical gatherings in the Music Club.

The most anticipated event of the weekend was the trip to Montreux for the famous Christmas Market, full of festive atmosphere, sparkling lights, and breathtaking views by the lake.

It was a beautiful weekend full of great moments! ✨

🌟 Boarder of the Week: Sofia 🌟

This week we celebrate Sofia for her outstanding display of house support and community spirit. She went above and beyond by helping others in the house with their physics subject (content that can be challenging for many). Her willingness to share her knowledge and offer support reflects the collaborative and caring environment we strive for within Villa du Lac and our CDL boarding community.

Thank you, Sofia, for showing us the power of teamwork and kindness!

Weekend Highlights Here at VDL :)

This weekend was full of choice and energy for our girls. Saturday started with tennis for those who wanted to get active, while others joined a cooking class led by our chef, learning how to make a wonderfully fragrant fried rice. Some students dedicated time to community service, picking up litter around the school and in Versoix, while others enjoyed horse riding or relaxed with art club.

Sunday brought even more variety: a fun bowling excursion, Pilates and body-shaping sessions, and a group who kindly volunteered to help wrap gifts for the Christmas Gift Box Appeal. There was also stretching and chess club. It was a weekend that balanced creativity, fitness, reflection and giving back; a great reflection of our boarding community spirit.

Boarders of the Week: Vanessa & Maria Clara

This week, we proudly celebrate Vanessa and Maria Clara for their exceptional dedication and leadership as Charity Committee Representatives. Their hard work and commitment have made a remarkable impact on our wider community!

Through teamwork and effort, Vanessa and Maria Clara helped raise almost half of the total funds donated by the boarding houses for the Christmas Gift Box Appeal. Their initiative not only supported a wonderful cause but also inspired others to get involved and give generously.

Their ability to lead with purpose and positivity reflects the true spirit of our boarding family. Thank you, Vanessa and Maria Clara, for showing us what it means to make a difference!
