Villa du Lac’s Weekend!!

Well it has been yet another busy weekend for the Villa du Lac girls!!!

The grade 11s and 12s headed up the mountain to Crans Montana for a weekend on the slopes!! Whether skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sledging or bowling, a wonderful time was had by all. For some it was their first experience in the alps, and Crans Montana did not disappoint with beautiful weather and views all around. Here’s a peak at what they got up to!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch (aka Villa du Lac), the grade 9s and 10s enjoyed a slightly more relaxing weekend with a variety of activities and the chance for our newest students – Elena, Sophia and Rochelle – to get to know their peers and their surroundings a little bit better.

Obligatory Saturday shopping trips in Geneva completed, we changed the pace with a quiet evening art session to create a few more beautifully painted mugs – kudos to Elena for her flag game, and Rochelle for her patience and attention to detail!

On Sunday, a number of the girls took the chance to test their balance as they skated around the local Versoix ice rink before coming home to the peace and tranquility of a very quiet House, and baking a huge batch of brownies to welcome back the grade 11s and 12s.

We finished the weekend off by celebrating Lucia’s birthday with our freshly baked brownies and a delicious cheesecake before everyone tumbled in to bed, ready to start the new week.

Here’s wishing you all a fabulous week ahead!

FIRST WEEKEND AT CDL

This weekend, while some of our students enjoyed an exciting getaway to the mountains, those who stayed at school didn’t miss out on the fun. We had a variety of activities. From a cooking session to an unforgettable afternoon on the ice-skating rink, every moment was full of laughter, learning and new experiences.

The activities not only allowed students to relax and enjoy their free time, but also encourage teamwork, creativity, and self-confidence. It’s wonderful to see how they take advantages of these opportunities to learn and grow outside the classroom!

We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and participation in every activity.

Thank you for this weekend.

FIRST SKI WEEKEND!❄️

This weekend, we had the pleasure of enjoying our first Ski Weekend of the year in the stunning Crans-Montana resort. With sunny skies and perfect weather, our students had the opportunity to hit the slopes for skiing and snowboarding. For those who preferred other activities, there was ice skating, multi-sports, thrilling sledding runs, and even bowling. Evenings at the hotel were just as exciting, with board games and a lively bingo session that brought us all together.

What truly makes these experiences special is the incredible sense of community that defines boarding school life. Spending these days off-campus allowed us to strengthen our bonds, create unforgettable memories, and share moments as one big family. It was a fantastic weekend, leaving us all eager for more adventures ahead!

NEW YEAR, NEW SEMESTER!!

Welcome back to a new semester!

We hope the holidays were a chance to recharge and enjoy special moments with your loved ones. Now it’s time to look ahead and start the year with enthusiasm.

The new year bring with many interesting traditions from different countries. In Spain and in Mexico, 12 grapes are eaten in sync with the midnight chimes to bring good luck. In Russia, it’s common to write resolutions on paper, burn it, and mix the ashes into a glass of champagne. In Brazil, wearing white symbolizes peace, and jumping over seven waves on the beach is believed to bring good wishes. In Italy, fireworks light up the night as a symbol of celebration. Soon, we will celebrate the Chinese New Year, a special occasion to learn more about this rich and meaningful tradition.

And this weekend, we are kicking off with Ski Weekend! It’s a perfect way to start the second semester with energy and togetherness.

Merry Christmas 🎄❤️

The first semester has come to an end, and we can’t help but feel a mix of emotions.

It’s been a time full of incredible moments and adventures that will stay in our memories forever. We kicked it off with the Mountain Weekend, an adventure that helped us get to know each other better and set the tone for so many amazing experiences. Honestly, we haven’t stopped! If we weren’t enjoying weekend activities, we were off on exciting trips to places like Disneyland Paris, Europa Park, or Lucerne. Sharing all of this with you has been absolutely wonderful.

And it wasn’t just the big moments—our day-to-day life together has been just as special: every Wednesday’s International Dinner, our House Meetings, the chats and laughs in the office…

The most beautiful part of these months has been creating such a special environment, where people from all over the world have come together to form a little family. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish you a wonderful Christmas with your families.

Sending you a big hug…

See you………………. next year! 🤭🩷

Secret Santa in VDL 🎅💖

Yesterday was an evening full of emotions at VDL house. We celebrated our traditional Secret Santa, a magical moment filled with laughter, hugs, and secret gifts that brought us even closer together. The girls put so much effort into choosing the perfect details for their friends, and the result was simply delightful. During the gift exchange, we enjoyed delicious homemade hot chocolate with whipped cream. 🎁✨

It was also a bittersweet evening, as we had to say goodbye to some of our companions who won’t be returning after Christmas. Ana Teresa, Sophia, and Triana, we will miss you so much. You will always be part of the VDL family, and we wish you all the best on your new journeys. 💌

Although we are all excited to return home and celebrate with our families, we know we will also miss our beloved VDL and the unique moments we have shared here.
