πŸŽ„Secret Santa – Sharing Joy at Villa du Lac πŸŽ…βœ¨

Yesterday we celebrated our Villa du Lac Secret Santa, and it was truly a lovely evening. The room was full of surprises, and warm holiday energy. Everyone arrived with beautifully wrapped gifts, and the excitement of guessing β€œWho is my Secret Santa?” made the moment even more special.

It was wonderful to see how thoughtful, funny, and creative the gifts were. Most importantly, everyone left happy, smiling, and feeling the spirit of our VDL community. Moments like these remind us how great it is to be part of this house β€” sharing joy, kindness, and a bit of festive magic together.

Thank you to all the students for joining and making the celebration so memorable.
Happy holidays! πŸŽ„πŸ’›

Boarders of the Week: The Escalade Girls 🌟

This week we are proud to recognize Polina, Dasha, Labenita, Vanessa, Veronika (Nika), Sofia, Katia, and Ildana for their incredible effort and determination during the Escalade Run over the weekend. Despite challenging weather conditions, they showed resilience and team spirit, never complaining and giving their best from start to finish.

The Escalade Run is a historic Geneva tradition commemorating the city’s victory over an attempted invasion in 1602. Today, it brings the community together in a spirited race through the old town – and our girls represented CDL brilliantly!

Congratulations to all of you for an amazing job!!

Alison, Monica, Karolina and Lana πŸ™‚

Sweet Creativity: Gingerbread House Competition πŸŽ„πŸ

We had so much fun building our gingerbread house! We spread out all the pieces, icing, and candies, and started assembling our little sweet masterpiece. There were a few wobbly moments (one wall almost fell!), but that was part of the fun. Decorating was the best partβ€”icing snow on the roof, candy trees, and little details made it feel magical. After a few hours of laughter, creativity, and a bit of chaos, our gingerbread house was ready. It might not be perfect, but it’s full of charm and holiday spirit! πŸ πŸ¬β„οΈ

Wish us luck! 🀞✨ #VDLTeam

πŸ’› Cozy VDL Moments

Hello Villa du Lac Family! πŸ’™

During this weekend, our Art Club was buzzing with creativity! Students sketched, painted, and experimented with colours, sharing ideas and feedback β€” exactly the warm, imaginative energy we love at VDL.

Volunteers joined a meaningful mission, cleaning around the lake. Gloves, bags, and teamwork turned a small gesture into a real difference for our community.

Students also enjoyed activities from horse riding and cooking to Pilatesβ€” just having fun and trying new things.

The heart of the weekend was Gingerbread House creation, Christmas movies, and cooking, capped off by the legendary Escalade Race in Geneva, full of energy, teamwork, and festive spirit.

Here’s to more weekends filled with good energy and beautiful memories at VDL. πŸ’™

With warmth,

5km on the rain our Villa du Lac Champions

Rain, mud, and cold didn’t stop our incredible girls from giving their best during the Escalade run this weekend! Sofia, Ildana, Katia, Vanessa, Veronika, Dasha, Polina, and Labenita proudly completed the 5 km race under challenging weather conditions. Running in the rain is never easy β€” it takes strength, determination, and a lot of motivation. But our girls showed all of that and more. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and perseverance truly represented Villa du Lac and the school in the best possible way. Well done, girls!
We are so proud of your effort, your spirit, and your amazing achievement.

Weekend Highlights at VDL

This weekend offered a fantastic mix of activities for our girls to enjoy. Saturday began with a hands-on baking class where the girls learned to make a delicious apple and raspberry crumble. For those who wanted to stay active, the running club was a great option, while art club; always a favourite provided space for creativity. A special highlight was the voluntary weekend trip to Disneyland Paris, which many of the girls joined, making the most of the opportunity for fun travel. Others chose to give back to the community by volunteering at our local Coop supermarket for Samedi du Partage (a twice-yearly initiative in Geneva where volunteers collect food and hygiene products for over fifty charities supporting people in need).

Sunday continued the momentum with a variety of activities, including a relaxing stretching session, a trip to the Montreux Christmas Market – one of the most beautiful markets in the region – and chess club for those who enjoy a strategic challenge. It was a weekend full of choice, energy, and community spirit.

✨ Disneyland Paris: Magical Weekend ✨

Past weekend we traded our usual schedules for something a little more… magical!
Our group took a trip to Disneyland Paris, and honestly β€” what an adventure.

From the moment we walked through the gates, the excitement was real. The castle was shining, the music was playing, and everyone suddenly remembered what it feels like to be a kid again.

We tried the big rides (yes, there was screaming), we watched the parade, we ate Disney-shaped snacks that definitely weren’t on the healthy list, and we took more photos than we’d like to admit.

The energy was amazing, the group spirit was even better, and by the end of the day we were tired, happy, and full of new memories.

A huge thank you to everyone for the enthusiasm and the good vibes β€”
Disneyland, we will be back! ✨

Wellbeing Pillar Focus: Body Image!

This week, our house came together to explore the important topic of body image. In a safe and supportive space, the girls reflected on what the term means to them and discussed how insecurities around body image are often learned rather than innate. The session encouraged everyone to think critically about the influences that shape how we feel about ourselves and how societal pressures can be challenged.

As part of the workshop, the girls shared their thoughts and feelings, then finished by writing positive messages – both to themselves and for younger students – on decorative sticky notes. The comments were inspiring and the discussion was thought-provoking, reminding us of the power of kindness and self-acceptance.

(See the beautiful collection of reminder notes below!)
