๐ŸŒŸ Boarders of the Week! ๐ŸŒŸ

This week, weโ€™re thrilled to celebrate not one, but two of our incredible boarders whose actions have truly embodied the spirit of our CDL community!

Rafa – In just one year at CDL, Rafa has made a lasting impact, earning the Career Contribution Award at the Sports Awards Ceremony – a rare and prestigious honour typically reserved for long-term students. Her determination, diligence, and undeniable stardom have shone brightly, inspiring us all. Bravo, Rafa!

Abby – Sometimes, the most meaningful gestures are the quietest. Abby attended the Seussical school musical simply to support her peers – no one asked, she just showed up. Her thoughtful presence and commitment to our boarding family and the wider CDL community speak volumes. Thank you, Abby, for supporting from the heart.

Letโ€™s all take a moment to celebrate these two shining stars. Your kindness, dedication, and spirit make CDL a better place for everyone.

Weekend Activities โ€“ Sunshine, Sports and Study! โ˜€๏ธ

It was a vibrant and sunny weekend at Villa du Lac, full of activity and balance.

The weekend started off with some morning tennis, while some girls enjoyed a game of badminton or went out for a refreshing run. A few of the girls also joined a day trip to Chamonix. This gave them the chance to experience the Aiguille du Midi going up by cable car taking in the stunning mountains views and discovering the French town of Chamonix.ย ย

A special addition this weekend was the opening of the school pool at Concha so the girls were able to enjoy a relaxing swim in the sunshine right here on campus.ย

Many used the long weekend to focus on studying for upcoming exams. The warm weather meant that the garden and terrace became popular spots for revising outdoors!

A lot of the girls also made the most of the break by travelling but whether revising, relaxing, or exploring, it was a lovely and well-balanced weekend for all!

Boarders of the Week – International Day Stars! ๐ŸŒโœจ

This week, weโ€™re celebrating an incredible group of boarders who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to support CDLโ€™s International Day:

Masha, Aurora, Katia, Paria, Sophia, Rafa, Hecto, Vanessa, Polina, and Dasha!

Each of them contributed in a meaningful way – whether it was helping set up food stands, cooking delicious dishes from their home countries, or doing face painting, all in support of raising funds for charity.

Their efforts helped make the day not only a vibrant celebration of our global school community, but also a beautiful example of teamwork, generosity, and spirit.

Well done to all of you – you truly embodied what International Day is all about! ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’›

Busy weekend in Villa du Lac!!

The weekend spirit arrived early this week as Friday saw all the students coming together to celebrate International Day!!! Whether they were selling traditional food from their countries or providing international themed face painting, many of our girls got involved and did a fantastic job raising funds for charity. Special shout outs go to Masha, Aurora, Katia, Paria, Sophia, Rafa, Hecto, Vanessa, Polina, and Dasha for their amazing contributions.

The rest of the weekend saw a mixture of regular and new activities taking place. Maybe it was the tennis fever that hit Geneva this week with the ATP tour being hosted in our city, but we certainly had plenty of girls making the most of the courts on both Saturdayย  and Sunday! It was ace!!

In a departure from the usual activities, a small group of our girls joined the long awaited boat trip to Yvoire on Sunday. They travelled by boat across the lake to France where they ate crรชpes, visited the local artisanal stores and visitedย  the beautiful ‘garden of five senses’ where they could learn about the different types of plants and even taste some of them! The group had a wonderful afternoon and it was great to be able to make the most of the good weather and see one of our local gems.

This week will be a short one with classes finishing after school on Wednesday ready for the long weekend. Suitcases are already being packed by many excited girls in anticipation!

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead,

The Villa du Lac Team ๐Ÿ™‚

Boarders of the Week โ€“ Our Super Seven !

These girls had a truly excellent weekโ€”upholding all house expectations and rules with ease, positivity, and great energy.

A huge well done to Margo, Dasha, Chloe, Rafa, Vivi, and Melina, who all took part in the 24-hour Charity Runโ€”a fantastic display of commitment and community spirit. (You can read more about the event in our earlier blog post!)

And a special shout-out to Evelyn, who spoke beautifully and calmly in our monthly boarding assembly, introducing the upcoming Cultural Diversity International Music Concert which she is co-organising ย (See our previous post for more on that special moment!)

Congratulations to our Super Seven! ๐ŸŒŸ

Weekend Activities at Villa du Lac!

We had a fun, sunny and refreshing weekend at Villa du Lac, with a variety of activities that kept the girls active and relaxed.

Tennis was available on both Saturday and Sunday, giving the girls the chance to enjoy the courts and some friendly matches. On Sunday, the focus shifted to wellness, with Pilates and stretching sessions helping the girls recharge and focus for the week ahead. A few also took part in golf, enjoying some time outdoors in the sunshine!

And of course, we all enjoyed our usual Sunday brunchโ€”a yummy tradition that brings everyone together mid-day.

Well done girlsโ€”itโ€™s always lovely to see you embracing these weekend opportunities!

24H run for Cancer Research A poweful Community Effort

This Saturday, our boarding community proudly took part in the inspiring 24-Hour Run for Cancer Research โ€” a fundraising event dedicated to supporting vital cancer research efforts. Among the enthusiastic participants were Vivi, Rafa, Dasha, Vanessa, Chloe, Polina, Melina, Margo and Monica, who all gave their time, energy, and heart to this important cause.

The event ran continuously for 24 hours, with members of the boarding community taking turns on the track to ensure that someone was always running in support of the cause. It was not only a physical challenge but also an incredible display of unity, resilience, and compassion.

All the funds raised during the run will go toward cancer research, helping to bring hope to those affected by the disease. Seeing our students actively involved and giving their best was a proud moment for all of us.

Weโ€™re grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event โ€” and even more grateful for the spirit, strength, and solidarity shown by our girls. Well done to everyone who participated and supported!

Happy 18th Birthday, Ayla!

Today weโ€™re celebrating a very special milestone-Ayla is 18!!! ๐ŸŽ‰

Itโ€™s such a joy to have Ayla in our boarding community. Sheโ€™s loyal, grounded, and always there for her friends-a true constant in the house. Whether itโ€™s her calm presence, quiet strength, or the way she brings people together, Ayla has a way of making everyone feel at ease.

Turning 18 is a big moment, and weโ€™re so proud to celebrate Ayla! Wishing you a beautiful year ahead filled with love, laughter, and everything you dream of.

Have the most amazing birthday-you deserve it! ๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŽ‚

Thursday Assembly : Celebrating Evelyn!

Weโ€™re incredibly proud of Evelyn, who stepped up to speak at our monthly boarding assembly this Thursday!

With her calm, clear, and confident voice, Evelyn made an inspiring announcement about a very special initiative sheโ€™s co-organising with Yoli: the Cultural Diversity – International Music Concert, which will take place on June 4th during our final boarding assembly.ย

This event aims to showcase the musical talents of our boarders and, most importantly, to celebrate the incredible internationalism of CDLโ€”with so many students from all over the world. Itโ€™s a beautiful initiative from Evelyn and Yoli and a way to bring us all together by celebrating the end of the school year through music and cultural expression.

As someone with a more reserved nature, it was especially wonderful to see Evelyn take the spotlight and share this exciting project with the boarding community.

Bravo Evelyn, weโ€™re so proud of you!
