Léman Journey Program Training + May Fitness Challenge!

May is going to be a month of physical activity for Terray! Training for the Léman Journey Program, an initiative to raise money for the organization World Bicycle Relief, has officially kicked off. This organization provides bicycles to individuals in developing countries, and our students have an amazing opportunity to contribute to these life-changing efforts.

Our girls tested out bicycles this week and got their bearings in preparation for this incredible 190km cycling journey around Lake Geneva that they will embark on from June 7th-9th.

A link to our fundraising page can be found here, where you can register to support this fantastic cause. Please share this link with family, friends, and on social media–every donation counts!

We have also started the May fitness Challenge, where our girls have the opportunity to complete a different physical feat each day of the month, in order to stay active and grounded.

Check out some photos of our girls preparing for the Léman Journey Program below, and take a look at the May Fitness Challenge as well. We are looking forward to staying active this spring!

International Dinner – India! 🇮🇳

Tonight, we enjoyed a feast from India! The girls savored perfectly seasoned butter chicken atop white rice, creamy daal, flakey roti, and spiced Indian vegetables.

International Dinners are a wonderful mid-week treat that we always look forward to. After a busy start to the week, this delicious meal was just what we needed as a well-earned pick-me-up.

Pillar 4: Healthy Bodies and Minds – Mindfulness

Tonight, Terray learned a lot about mindfulness during our Wellbeing Session for Pillar 4’s Healthy Bodies and Minds. In this session, we discussed what mindfulness is, and how to incorporate it into our daily lives. We learned about slowing down and being present in each moment and strategies to slow down our brains when it feels like our thoughts are going too fast or when they overwhelm us.

Our girls are stepping up to a challenge of taking 5 minutes a day to slow down, take a breath, and savor every moment in life, no matter how big or small. This session was especially enjoyable as we all took time to close our eyes, breathe, and ground ourselves in the present. Now, we invite you to join us and take a moment to relax your shoulders, close your eyes, and take some nice deep breaths in and out.

International Dinner – Greek Night!

Tonight, we enjoyed a delicious mix of flavors from Greece! We had chicken kebabs and souvlaki in fluffy pita, with plenty of Tzatziki and fresh veggies piled on top. For dessert, we savored a special Greek yogurt with raisins. Everyone enjoyed tonight’s meal, with some girls taking some extra pita for the road!

International meals here at CDL are made even more enjoyable by the country fact sheets that decorate the cafeteria. Below, you can read some interesting facts about Greece! Did you know that the Greek language is one of the oldest written languages still in use today? It is over 3,400 years old!

Weekend Activities at Terray!

Even in cold and rainy weather, we have great weekends at Terray!

This weekend was packed with our usual activities, including horse riding, hip-hop dance, cooking, and tennis. Friday, we took time to complete our weekly guided reading session together, allowing us to unwind and relax together. Saturday was our busiest day this weekend, with the girls attending their go-to activities. On Sunday, we did some crafts together and prepared for the upcoming talent show.

Overall it was a lovely weekend, and we are so excited for the weather to continue to improve so we can spend more time together outside!

Pillar 4 – Healthy Bodies and Minds

We have officially started our fourth wellbeing pillar in Terray, Healthy Bodies and Minds!

For the first week of this pillar, we focused on nutrition, providing our students with a better understanding of calories and portion sizes, as well as how to make healthy food choices and the importance of staying hydrated.

Tonight’s video centered on portion sizes, water intake, and calorie needs for different age groups, teaching our students more about how to best care for their bodies. We look forward to exploring more of this very important pillar in the coming weeks, and learning more about how to nourish our bodies and minds!
