Last weekend, CDL students embarked on an unforgettable journey to Rome! Among them were Lulu and Yufei from New Portena Boarding House, adding their spark to the adventure.

They visited the Vatican, where they explored St. Peter’s Square and marveled at the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. They wandered through Rome’s iconic landmarks, from the Pantheon to the Trevi Fountain, with some shopping time thrown in.

The next day, it was Lulu’s 15th birthday! 🎂 The day was packed with history as they toured the Colosseum and the Roman Forum . A quick lunch break, and it was time to bid farewell to the Eternal City.✈️🇮🇹

This past weekend, the Grade 9s and 10s of New Portena embarked on an exhilarating journey to Leysin, where sunny skies set the stage for a winter wonderland adventure. They tried skiing, snowboarding, and even ice skating. To chill out, some of the girls relaxed in the thermal baths. This first weekend of December was packed with excitement for the New Portena girls. Ingrid showcased her skills in her first fencing competition, proudly returning with a silver medal.

Meanwhile, Ana Cristina, Melissa, and Paulina glided through a fun-filled day at the local ice skating rink, creating memories on the ice.

Aliki, Lulu, Bice, Sayuri, He, Yufei, Hanna, and Valentina embraced the festive spirit, spending a delightful Sunday at the Montreux Christmas market.

Gergana braved the cold and participated in her first Escalade race!

This Sunday, the 19th of November, marked a heartwarming event at CDL—the Gift Box Wrapping activity. After gathering donations from our boarders a few weeks ago for the Gift Box Appeal, it was time to transform those contributions into beautifully wrapped gifts.

Leading the charge on this compassionate project were Bice, Sayuri, and Hanna, alongside the dedicated efforts of Coco, Ingrid, Mei Mei, Paulina and Melissa among our New Portena Girls. Together, they brought warmth and joy to the season, showcasing the spirit of giving and camaraderie.

We’re thrilled to kick off the second pillar of our Wellbeing program at New Portena: “Protecting Against Bullying and Respecting Diversity.” Yesterday’s house meeting marked the beginning of our ethnicity and diversity challenge, a meaningful initiative to foster connections and understanding.

In a heartwarming exercise, roommates in each room came together to discover what they share in common. From shared interests to cultural connections, the process was a celebration of diversity and unity within our boarding house.
