New friends in New Portena
Welcome to New Portena 2016-2017
Having been at school for a week the staff are truly excited that arrivals weekend is underway and we are excited to have the house slowly filling up. After all a school is not a school without children!
We have already welcomed Valeriia, Ivy, Sabrina, Alina, Cam Thi, Shelly, Louise, Lorena and Paula. They are all unpacked and settling in to their new rooms.
The CDL campus is revelling in beautiful sunshine.
The House parent this year is Ms Terri Davis. (Photo below: Middle)
The Graduate assistants in the House are Miss Stephanie Fournier (Photo below: Right) and Miss Sophie Bentley (Photo below:Left).
Any questions or queries please get in touch.

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page raising money for the ‘Serenje Orphans Childrens Home’ (SOCH) in Central Zambia. We are aiming to raise £3000 to help complete the guest house at the Orphanage.
The SOCH orphanage supplies food, education and support for 44 orphans at a time.
Until recently, there was little evidence of any self-sustaining project that would be able support the orphanage for years into the future.
Local management advised Kevin Gilbert (founder of the SOCH Orphanage and the SOA charity that supports it) that the most viable option was to build a guest house. Serenje is on the T2 (Great North Road) connecting Lusaka Livingstone and the Copperbelt to Tanzania in the Northeast. The guest house will provide accommodation for those travelling along this route. Once built, it should provide the orphanage with an income of approximately £16000p.a., which is 67% of the £24000 needed annually.
The total cost of construction was estimated to be £27000, of which nearly £21,000 was raised by Edward Lloyd, a past student of Collège du Léman, and £3000 received as an Outreach Grant from the ECIS. Our £3000 will go towards the total cost of the build. The building is past the roofing stage – all that remains is the internal tiling of bathrooms and the purchase of furniture.
We hope you can help provide as much support as possible, in order to make SOCH self-sustainable long into the future.
Thankyou,
Ricardo, Morgan and Tom
