November Boarding Assembly & Celebrating Javi’s Success!

This evening we had our first Boarding Assembly since coming back after the break!

We had a lovely piano performance by Sedef from Villa du Lac, who played Valse by Evgeny Grinko to start off our assembly.

We also celebrated Javier for his stellar performance in a Horse Riding competition back in Mexico, that qualified him to represent his country!

Winter is definitely here, so getting a bright photo of our lads dressed up is tough.

Celebrating our sports successes. There’s Javi on the right!

This is the final that was broadcasted on national television!

Buon Appetito!

This evening we enjoyed some delicious Italian cuisine for out international dinner!

We had Ossobucco, Parmigiana di Melanzane, and some cheesy Gnocchi – a hearty and warming meal for a chilly night.

Did you know the typewriter was invented in Italy??

Study Buddies.

This afternoon, the boys sat down to prepare for their upcoming summatives with Mr. Victor and Mr. Manuel beside them to offer support and to answer any questions they may have.

While the boys are being studious, we find it quite fun because it allows us to work parts of our brain that we haven’t had to use since we were in High School our selves!

Fully Booked!

What’s one way to go on an adventure without taking a single step?

Picking up a good book!

Reading is an immensely enriching experience that helps our boys explore new worlds, ideas and, of course, vocabulary.

Javier traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965 with some greasers, Adrian made his way to Surrey Street in Plainview, Massachussets with the Wimpy Kid and I found myself in Alagaesia with a bunch of dragon riders.

Some new words from today’s reading include: antiquities, meteor, pacifier, dazed, archeologist and muttered.

Fright Night!

As I unfortunately missed Halloween with the boys – which happens to be my all time favorite holiday! – I made up for it by taking the lads out this evening for a spooky evening walk in the woods near by.

We trekked down the road and headed into the woods, where everyone turned off their flashlights and set off on an a little dark adventure. We traversed tunnels, crossed bridges, sang some songs, stepped in puddles and got a little muddy, but what fun it was!

As the path commences

Loving that blurry aesthetic. Blurry smiles, but smiles nonetheless.

A little flash photography to ruin the night-vision they developed.

As October Falls

Have a look at a few photos from the last few days of October.

As the fog rolls in and the leaves begin to tumble, the house starts to get cozier and cozier.

Jiarui, Shunyu & Fanyang munching away on some apples from our fresh delivery

The boys putting their heads together on a rainy day.

Adrian finishing off his most recent book.

Tanzania Mania!

This Fall break three of our boys, Jiarui, Eduardo and Enrique went on an adventure across Tanzania!

Not only did they explore their beautiful surroundings, they also helped the community and learned some new skills in the process.
