Mr. Jaime – Moving Boarding Houses

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I wanted to inform you of some news regarding the staffing in Concha Blanca. Mr. Jaime has been selected to move to Olympus Boarding House, which is a Senior Boy’s Boarding House on campus.

Despite us all being very sad that Mr. Jaime will not be working and living in Concha Blanca for the remainder of the year, we are extremely grateful for everything that he has given to the students over the last 18 months, as well as the experience, hardwork, and professionalism he has brought to our team.

We are delighted that he will still be working within the CDL Family, and we look forward to seeing him for meals in the dining hall, and around campus in general.

Mr. Jaime, thank you for everything, amigo!!!

Kindest regards,

Mr. James and Mr. Rob

‘Building’ positive friendships

Congratulations to Liam and Owen for already completing their individual projects for our third pillar of wellbeing – Building Positive Friendships. The boys chose to complete a LEGO project together. We are so proud of the teamwork and sharing skills they have shown us.

Ski Day Number 1

Yesterday saw the first Ski day of the season!! Groups of students went to beautiful mountain resorts in Leysin and Villars. It was a glorious day with amazing snow. All of our boys did brilliantly and enjoyed skiing very much. We now recharge our batteries, brush off the snow from our skis, and prepare for the next one next weekend. Well done boys.

House Meeting

Our House Meeting this evening involved talking about the final plans for our Individual and Group Projects for the Wellbeing Pillar and completing a fun activity which Mr Usher organised.

Wellbeing Pillar 3 – Building Positive Friendships

Dear all,

We are very happy to announce that we have now launched our 3rd Pillar of the Wellbeing Programme.

At College du Leman, teaching extends beyond the classroom. The family environment in which we live should encourage students to take care of each other and create a strong bond, and above all, one that will last a long time. Many friendships are formed and they find that their social circle becomes larger, more diverse and more interesting.

Friendships are a very important element in a person’s life. This is why boarders will experience throughout this pillar various ways of making friends that are beneficial to them. They will also have to analyse and understand that there are situations in which certain social environments can be harmful and should be avoided, the more than well-known “bad influences”.

As with the previous pillars in the previous term, each child will have to develop an individual project and work together with the others to develop the group project. They will also participate in various workshops organised by the school’s Advice Department.

An example of the key points we would like the children to move away from this pillar is the power of listening when it comes to strengthening or creating a bond with someone we know or are getting to know. They should also know that there are conflicts between great friends and that, despite having differences in something, it is important to know how to overcome that conflict in the most positive way possible.
