Boarding Football Tournament – Concha vs Olympus

Thursday evening saw the first match of this year’s Boarding Football Tournament take place. Concha, as the reigning champions of the competition, went up against a very strong ‘new look’ Olympus side.

Concha started the game very well, working well as a team, marking tightly and closing Olympus down at every opportunity. With Concha piling on the pressure, the ball was forced out for a corner kick by the Olympus defence. A fabulous delivery from Loris found Mr Rob on the back post to head home the game’s first goal. With the spirits in the Concha team very high, another goal was imminent. Fantastic pressure from Loris forces a pass back to the Olympus goalkeeper, only for Fady to pounce and slot the ball into the back of the net. 2 – 0. Olympus turn it up a notch and manage to pull one back before half time – a powerful strike.

Half time: Concha 2 – 1 Olympus

The teams change ends and the heavens open. The rain came heavy and so did Olympus. The Concha boys continued to play well together and work very hard. As the game went on, the boys became tired and as Olympus introduced fresh legs and some fabulous shots, the game slipped away from Concha.

The boys can be very proud of themselves – Mr and James and Bernardo were solid in defense and Mr Jaime made some brilliant saves. Sasha, Owen, Liam and Yuto were on the sidelines cheering for the whole game – their support was crucial. We are so proud of the togetherness, work ethic, sportsmanship and teamwork the boys showed this evening. The competition is far from over and we now wait for the next game, vs Leman.

Final Score: Concha 2 – 4 Olympus

Man of the Match: Bernardo – some great challenges from him tonight and he never stopped running – well done Bernardo.

Attendance: 20

Wellbeing – Pillar 1 – Healthy Bodies and Minds!

This afternoon, the Primary boys completed the first part of their Individual Projects for Pillar 1 of the Wellbeing Program.

Their task was to complete a 1 mile run and then discuss the benefits of this exercise. In the end, the boys ran 1.6 miles as a team.

The boys had a meeting after their exercise and said they felt it was a great achievement and although they felt like they would not be able to complete the task, they did it. It made them feel very proud of themselves for working as a team!

Accrobranche

On sunday, the concha boys enjoyed a fun day out at Accrobranche. The bravery and courage shown by all was powerful. Well done to all the boys who took the leap. Masks were worn where distance couldn’t be kept.

Junior Gym

Every so often, we try and give the junior students some time in the school gym. This session is strictly supervised by a member of staff and they are limited with what machines they can use. Today we worked very hard, we had a various challenges and, most importantly, we did not forget to maintain good standards of hygiene.

Saturday trip to Nyon for the Concha boys

This Saturday, the Concha boys were given the opportunity to visit the local of Nyon. With the fabulous scenery, beautiful lakeside views and the opportunity to do some shopping, the boys had a great day.

When we went into shops and into areas where we were around people, we all wore masks.
