Wellbeing Pillar 4 – Online Safety

This week we will be talking to our students about their “Online Life”.
Students are not able to open Insta, TikTok, Youtube etc, without being bombarded by the Life of Influencers. It has been glamorised and normalised as an aspirational pursuit to have 1000s of followers, likes and comments.
We want our students to think about the following points;

  1. What is our true reason for posting our pictures, videos etc online?
  2. Why do we think society now values followers, likes and comments on someone’s post as a measure of their success?
Here is the latest video that has been made by the Student Advocate Group to raise awareness to the other students.

Happy CDL Day – The Return of the Annual Grand Prix

The atmosphere on the school campus today was vibrant, as we celebrated CDL day, a day where we aim to raise awareness about climate change. This special day also saw the return of the Grand Prix, an anuual running race on campus for all grades. Due to the global pandemic, the Grand Prix hasn’t been able to take place on campus for 2 years. Well done to all the Léman 1 boys, and all the Boarding students who took part in this incredible event today.

Space – The Final Frontier

On Saturday evening Karim went with a group from CDL to attend the Swiss Tech Convention which was showcasing the Legends of Space show.

The Crew, plus their Captain Mr. Antonio, our resident Space Buff.

They had the incredible opportunity to be around astronauts that have actually set foot on the moon – a rare and memorable moment.

Two of the legendary Moonwalkers, Charlie Duke (Apollo 16) and Dave Scott (Apollo 15)

Mark and Karim enjoying the show. Is that the moon or just convenient over head lighting?

A Run In The Sun

This sunny morning Ablai woke up bright and early for a 5km run.

While he feels he could have pushed himself more, we’re impressed by his motivation!

Ablai, warmed and blinded by the giant flaming orb in the sky.

Morning Warriors

Let’s Cut To The Cheese

On Saturday morning, a few of our boys attended the Cooking activity and made some lovely cheesecake.

The Cake of Cheese, with accoutrements of white chocolate shavings, raspberry syrup and biscuits.

Chef Timur – previously known as simply Timur prior to the cooking activity – preparing his cheesecake.

We are quite proud of this talented young man.

Wellbeing Pillar 4 – Online Safety

Introducing, the fourth pillar of our Wellbeing programme – Online Safety.

Each week we will be working with our students and focusing on specific sub topics relating to this pillar.
This week, we are talking about Cyberbullying and ‘What you post….in that moment’.
We want the students to think about the following points;
  1. When we think we are being funny or witty or purposefully insensitive towards someone else’s post are we really aware of the potential harm or hurt we can cause.
  2. Posting a funny picture or video of someone or your friend can be online– forever!
Please watch this important video made by some of our students including some of the Léman 1 boys. This video was brought you by the Student Advocate from for Online Safety. There is an important message in here that all our students must bear in mind when using social media, and when deciding what to post.

Well done Amir!!

More congratulations for this young man this evening. Today Amir took the ‘End of First Cyle Exam’ at the Geneva Conservatoire.

He passed with ‘Distinction with Congratulation’s.

Another fantastic achievement for Amir. He works so hard and we are all so proud of him.

Crepes and Raclette – A Winning Combination

A little sweet and a little savory, tonight both Leman 1 & Leman 2 got together and had a blast making some delicious crepes and raclette.

We enjoyed an evening full of laughs, music, and of course – cheese.

The Batter, carefully prepared by Mr. Antonio from Leman 2 and our own Nadim.

It begins!

Inter-house unity…or collective hunger?

Multitasking at it’s finest

Cooking Away

Amirhossein and Zihao spent Saturday morning cooking up a storm.

Apparently, they made a red berry crumble. I say apparently because it was gone before anyone could take a picture of it!

Anticipatory smiles as they put their food puzzle together.

Congratulations Amir!!

We would like to congratulate Amir on a fantastic achievement today! Amir took part in the Geneva Conservatoire North American Composers Competition. A competition he has been practicing for for a long time.

Amir was deservedly crowned the WINNER of this competition!

We are all so so proud of him. Well done Amir.

Welcome to Léman 1, Mr Tarun

We would like to give a warm welcome to the latest addition of the Léman 1 team. Mr Tarun has now joined us as a Houseparent. Mr Tarun has worked in the Léman building before as well as several other Boarding Houses here at Collège du Léman. Mr Tarun is already well known by the Léman boys and we are delighted to have him back with us. Welcome Tarun!!

Thank you for everything, Mr Gordon

We start the term without a longstanding figure within The Léman 1 Boarding House. Mr Gordon has been a Houseparent in Léman 1 for almost 10 years and will now go to work in The Olympus Boarding House. Although he is not going far, he will be missed by all of us in Léman 1. We would like to thank Mr Gordon for everything he has done for us. We wish him all the best for his next adventure. See you soon, Mr Gordon.

Winter Camp 2022 – Crans Montana

Many of the Léman 1 boys have returned from the February break having spent the week in Crans Montana for this year’s Winter Camp. The boys returned very tired but with giant smiles on their faces after plenty of incredible skiing, beautiful mountain views, and fun winter activities.

Weekend Activities

Another fantastic weekend here on campus, packed with incredible activities. This weekend the Léman 1 boys enjoyed a wide range of fun activities including tennis, volleyball, cooking, bowling, badminton, running, as well as a trip to a trampoline park.

Ski day 1

More ski/snowboard opportunities for the Léman 1 boys this weekend. The first instalment of the special ‘ski days’ saw a number of the Léman 1 lads head to breaktaking mountains in La Tzoumaz. The conditions were perfect, the boys had a lot of fun and they are all incredibly sleepy this evening!!
