My life at Boarding School

My name is Matei, I’ve recently started studying at College Du Leman, an International Boarding School in Versoix, Switzerland.

So far, I can say my experience here has been a pretty good one because I’ve made some good friends and I have learnt a lot of new subjects that will prepare me for the university that I want to apply for.

This is a top school that only a few people have the privilege to attend but it’s worth it. Besides the fact that you will leave with a lot of academic knowledge, you will also establish relationships with people from all across the world and you will have the possibility to use those relationships in the future.

Another aspect I really like about College Du Leman is that they give you the freedom to choose your preferred subjects. This is great because teenagers can exceed in what they want to do in the future and focus on their goals. For example, I see myself on the business/management side, so I chose 2 subjects that will help me improve my knowledge on this domain: Business and Economics.

Boarding life is amazing here, because after school, when students feel like they want to relax, they also have the choice of doing their favorite hobbies. This way, students will do something productive with their free time, as well as something educative.

In the weekend, students are free to explore Geneva. They are given this privilege because it’s important for them to feel free and happy while studying at College Du Leman.

To sum up, life at this school offers students a lot of opportunities and can be very enjoyable. You just have to respect some simple rules and you will have a great time. You will make a lot of good friends from all around the world, a lot of really nice memories and it will help you get in a lot of top universities from where you can start a career.

Doing things for others

One of the most precious things we have is time. We all only have a limited amount of time and once we lose it we can not get it back. Therefore, giving someone your time is one of the biggest privileges we can give to someone.

When we think of charity or helping people, many people are generous in giving money which of course in certain circumstances is a vital aid. However, for things which money can not help, the most valuable thing we can give is our time.

Over this month we have seen lots of examples of this within the Boarding House. People giving their time to help others. Some examples of this where; students joining the annual Lake Clean-Up, students helping others with their homework, or teaching other to iron, or carrying the fruits to the Houses, building furniture, cleaning the kitchen. Sometimes its just as simple as spending time with someone else, inviting them to join in a game, sharing food or showing an interest in someone else’s interests.

Well done to the Leman 1 boys.

Active Weekends

The first month of school is nearly over us and apart from all the studying we have been doing there have also been so many activities. This month we have had on offer; wakeboarding, tennis, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, volleyball, Banana boating, horse riding, boxing, biking, badminton, Zumba, art workshop, sailing, golf and drone flying. This is in addition to our Sunday trips to Geneva, Paragliding, Yvoire, and Montreux.

Here are some photos from this weekend.

Curiosity Cabinet

Over the year’s students have donated small mementos from their country or things they have created. These items have accumulated over the years and adorned our shelves in the office. Items which remind us of past students or nice creations which they have made. This year we decided to make this more of a focus and created a Curiosity Cabinet.

House Representatives

We are proud to announce our new Committee members and House Reps.

They will be the voice of the students of Leman 1.

We trust these boys will do a good job and bring lots of fresh ideas to the Boarding Community.

First Weekend

It has been an amazing start to the term with a great atmosphere in the House. It is nice to see returning students helping and supporting new students and also older students engaging with younger students. The Boarding House is really starting to bond well into the family we wish to be.

This weekend we had a multitude of activities on offer. This included; tennis, wakeboarding, kayaking, tennis, biking, horse riding, volleyball, sailing, golf and a trip to Geneva.

Welcome from Leman 1

Dear Friends

Thank you for visiting our blog. This is where we will share with you special moments that we have throughout the year.

Along with our aim of helping our students achieve academically, we believe much more is gained through the experience of Boarding. Gently we will try to guide them to become more independent, conscious, aware and to embody the spirit of Respect, Internationalism, team Spirit and Excellence that are at the core of our Guiding Principles R.I.S.E. at Collège du Léman.

We aim to ensure our students have fun, new experiences, work hard and have smiles on their faces. We are looking forward to the year ahead.

We welcome you to please subscribe so you will be notified when we update and also please feel free to comment.
