In order to celebrate the end of the year before the vacation, we enjoyed a nice and bright winter dinner in school. The cafeteria was transformed for the occasion and it was absolutely stunning!! Everyone made an effort to be well dressed and prepared.

We all had a good moment while keeping our usual precautions, as we were sitting by house, what we’re doing for a while already.

ONE, TWO THREE – masks off!

Tonight we had the great honor to give medals to the winners of the award ceremony. We were rewarding the students for their participation in the boarding life, their participation in activities, and for their good academic results.

Unfortunately, we were missing some girls (Alison, Cherry, Yvonne) but we keep their medals and we will give them to them on their return.

Congratulations to Sabine and Bianka for the boarding life award and Ghida for her best academics achievement for GR11 / IB1!

And then we ate the “chocolate marmite” broken according to the Swiss tradition!

It represents a battle between French and Swiss people where the Swiss citizens defended themselves by throwing boiling soup onto the invaders.

This weekend they chose tennis among a big range of activities proposed by the school!

The little monsters from Champ des Bois came to the house for “treat or treat”.

They got a lot of candies and enjoyed our decoration!

Halloween is always a good occasion to make a lot of decorations and watch scary movies.

Watch out ladies!!

We are very proud of Ghida and Alison who took the initiative of taking part in cleaning the lake! What a great way to spend a cloudy Sunday afternoon participating in this action launched some years ago.

They were learning how to use their phone’s effects in an inside area.

Yesterday evening, after recovering from the graduations,

we went out to enjoy the fireworks.

They were part of the weekend celebrations for the bicentanary of Versoix.

They were great and we were having the “front seats”.

The Graduation ceremony is the moment of life, very emotional by the way, we all realise that the year and particulary the high school stage is over!

A new life, full of surprises and challenges is waiting for those students. We won’t be able to physically support them any more – especially our boarders – since they’re leaving CDL but they know they can always count on us, staff members, who have helped them growing up.

WELL DONE REGINA, CONGRATULATIONS!

We are very proud of you and your journey with us.

4 years has passed and it looks like you arrived yesterday.

You went through this stage with a lot of maturity and dedication to everything you were starting.

We wish you all the best and even more because you deserve it

and we are sure you’ll accomplish great things.

We’re just asking you not to forget about us (but this is impossible we know ;-))

because we won’t never forget about you.

What a surprise it was to see a former student, Imelda Dossou, coming in to visit!

She hasn’t changed that much after 9 years, she just became a very nice young lady.

I was very happy to be able to talk with her, especially when she said that she has spent a very good time in New Portena and that she misses that life 😉

It made me think of an expression “you’re never happy about what you have until you don’t have it any more”.
