Life After CDL: Graduates Share Wisdom on University and Beyond

Last evening, we had the privilege of welcoming two former students back to our school for an inspiring talk on “Life After CDL.” The two alumni, who have successfully navigated the transition from high school to university, shared invaluable insights with our current students about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Their visit was a refreshing reminder of the lasting bonds between CDL and its graduates, as well as a fantastic opportunity for our students to hear firsthand what comes after graduation.

More than just a Q&A session, their talk was filled with personal stories, tips, and encouragement to help students feel confident and prepared for the next chapter of their academic journey. For many of our students, hearing about the experiences of former CDL students who had once sat in the same classrooms provided not just guidance, but a sense of reassurance that they, too, could succeed in the world beyond our school. Thanks for coming!!!

More Than Just Pajamas: The Power of Friendship in Boarding School

Last weekend, some girls from our house had pajama party at a nearby villa, and it was a perfect example of the deep friendships that can flourish in a boarding school environment. Most of the group was Brazilian, which added an extra layer of warmth and energy to the evening. Everyone wore matching black shirts and black-and-white plaid pants. They spent the night cooking together, singing along to their favorite songs, and sharing stories, all while enjoying each other’s company.

Meri and Radi’s Bulgarian Presentation

Our monthly assembly is a time when all students and staff come together in the same room to learn about what’s coming up in the next few weeks. Students also participate in the assembly in various ways.

Today, it was Radi’s and Meri’s turn to give a presentation about their country, where they talked about their culture and traditions. Their presentation was amazing, and everyone was captivated by the interesting details and engaging way they shared their heritage. Please see some pictures below.

Reading time!πŸ“š

At Portena, all eighth graders come together to read twice a week!

During these sessions, students can choose their own books. This freedom makes reading enjoyable and encourages exploration of different genres.

This reading habit not only improves literacy skills but also creates lasting connections among students. We’re excited to see the positive impact on our Portena community! Happy reading!

A Weekend of Adventure at Portena! πŸ§—β€β™€οΈπŸ‡πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ

Dear All,

During the first weekend following the October break, our girls had the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, including rock climbing, horse riding, and stretching. In their leisure time, some chose to explore the city of Geneva, while others preferred to remain at home to relax, complete their homework, and prepare for the upcoming week. It has been a busy and enjoyable weekend for everyone involved.

As we conclude this weekend’s activities, I would like to extend my thanks to all parents for your continued support and encouragement. We appreciate your involvement in our community and the positive impact it has on our girls. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead filled with joy and success.

Best regards,

Portena team.

Induction ceremony of National Honor Society (NHS)

Last night we had the opportunity to attend the official induction ceremony of NHS with two of our students.

For those who don’t know, the National Honor Society (NHS) is a club for high school students who are not only smart but also show leadership, do community service, and have good character. If you have a strong GPA and are involved in school activities, you might be invited to join. It’s a way to celebrate students who are doing great things and encourage them to keep it up.

We are happy to inform you that He HE (Mei Mei) and Vice VERCELLI have the opportunity of having a role this special day. Bice is the secretary of this program at CDL so she had the opportunity of giving a wonderful speech and Mei MeiΒ  joined as a new member.
