This past Tuesday marked a special milestone for our youngest girls at Portena, their Middle School graduation!

They’ve worked hard, grown so much, and have now officially closed an important chapter in their lives. We couldn’t be more proud of everything they’ve achieved.

Now, a new adventure begins: High School! It’s a big step, full of new challenges, friendships, and opportunities. We know they’re ready — and we’ll be cheering them on every step of the way.

We can’t believe the school year is almost over, time has flown by so quickly! This weekend marked the final one of the 2024-2025 academic year. Although there weren’t as many students as usual, those who stayed on campus made the most of the last weekend activities.

The girls from Porteña especially enjoyed participating in Cooking and Tennis, showing off their skills and having a great time together. Today, as a special end-of-year celebration, all the boarders went to Concha’s garden for an epic water-themed party. From fun aquatic games to relaxing by the pool, it was the perfect way to wrap up the year. 🏊🏻‍♀️

We hope next year’s weekend activities are just as successful and full of unforgettable memories!

Yesterday was a very special day at Portena as we celebrated the graduation of some of our amazing girls. Families came from all over the world to be here, and the whole house was filled with love, laughter, and happy tears. It was a beautiful evening where we looked back on all the memories we’ve shared and how much each girl has grown during her time with us.

We said goodbye to Meme, Bice, Coco, Sayuri, Hannah, Defne, Venus, and Raquel. Each one of them has brought something unique and wonderful to our Portena family. While we are sad to see them go, we are also so proud of them and excited to see what comes next. We’ll miss you girls so much, and we wish you all the best in your next chapter!

Today was a special and emotional day at Collège du Léman as we held the Leavers Assembly, a moment to celebrate the boarders who are leaving this year to begin their university journey. Mr. Usher gave a heartfelt speech, and it was also announced where each graduating student will be heading next — a proud and touching moment for everyone present.

From Portena, we were so proud to see Bice, Venus, Sayuri, and Defne there, representing us beautifully. Although Hanna, Meimei, Coco, and Raquel couldn’t attend in person, we truly felt their presence with us throughout the ceremony. Each of them has left a meaningful mark on our community, and now they move forward to exciting new chapters.

We say goodbye with full hearts — filled with memories, gratitude, and hope for what’s to come. The future is bright, and no matter where life takes them, they will always have a home here. Good luck, girls!

Tonight was our last dinner together at the house before the end of the school year. To celebrate, we had an American-style meal: burgers, fries, salad, and for dessert, some delicious chocolate-covered donuts. Simple, tasty, and fun!

The girls from Portena sat down to enjoy one final meal all together. They’re definitely going to miss these dinners: sharing stories, eating together, and feeling at home with each other. 😊

This past weekend, our Grade 8 boarding students – including our Portena girls – embarked on an incredible cycling adventure around Lake Léman. After weeks of dedicated training and preparation, the big moment finally arrived, and we’re thrilled to share that everything went perfectly!

From the first push of the pedal to the last breathtaking view along the lakeshore, the students showed determination, teamwork, and resilience. We couldn’t be prouder of them. This trip wasn’t just about cycling; it was about pushing limits, building bonds, and creating memories they’ll carry with them forever.

This long weekend was packed with fun and energy for our students, who enjoyed a well-deserved break from classes—including Monday! With plenty of time on their hands, they took part in a range of activities including basketball and handball games that kept everyone moving and engaged.

Even though the weather was a bit cloudy, it didn’t stop anyone from making the most of it. Afternoons by the pool were a highlight, offering a refreshing break and a chance to relax or splash around with friends. It was a great way to recharge, spend time outdoors, and enjoy the weekend together.

Jodee also had the chance to enjoy an exciting adventure in Ticino with a group of students. Their trip was filled with fun and discovery—from taking the funiculaire up to the breathtaking heights of Monte Brè, to spending a thrilling day at Splash & Spa in Tenero. They also visited La Falconeria in Locarno. With so much to see and do, the group had an amazing time exploring the region and creating lasting memories together.

This past weekend was a special one – thanks to the long weekend, many of our girls took the opportunity to go on mini vacations with their families. For those who stayed at the house, the weather couldn’t have been better! 🌞

On Friday, some of our girls joined a school trip to Chamonix, where they went up to the Aiguille du Midi. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking, a true highlight of the weekend!

Also, Ran, Ami, and Ainhoa had their final cycling training session today in preparation for next weekend’s big cycling journey. We can’t wait to see them in action! 🚵‍♀️

This weekend at the boarding house was full of fun and fresh air. The girls kicked things off with a baking session, where they made delicious blueberry cupcakes. There was plenty of mixing, laughing, and maybe a little too much taste-testing — but the results were worth it! The kitchen smelled amazing, and everyone enjoyed sharing their sweet creations.

The rest of the weekend was spent outdoors. Some of the girls went horse riding, with a few first-timers showing impressive bravery (and balance!). Others headed to the tennis courts for friendly matches and lots of cheering. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and activity — and a great way to end the week on a high note.

A special event took place this weekend — the 24-Hour Fun Run, a remarkable initiative that lasted from Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. until Sunday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. For a full 24 hours, there was always a group of students running, showing not only impressive dedication and teamwork, but also a deep sense of purpose.

This wasn’t just a physical challenge, it was a meaningful opportunity for students to come together for a great cause. The most inspiring part of this unforgettable event is indeed that it was organized as a fundraiser for cancer research. By running, students weren’t just covering distance — they were raising awareness, showing solidarity, and making a real impact in the fight against cancer. It was a powerful reminder of how young people can use their strength, time, and voices to support important causes and create lasting change in their communities.

Among the many who participated, there were Mariana, Mafer, Maria Clara, Esther, Aelita, and Paola — each of them contributing their energy and enthusiasm to keep the run going.
