Stepping Up – Respect Week

Dear all,

This week is International Week, and today at the House Meeting we did something special. We created several scenarios where a person is in an awkward situation, and we role-played how we could show respect and help them. The scenarios mirrored real everyday situations in school, so we could see what we might actually do if we were in one of them.

One of the scenarios and Bisher’s response stood out to me:

Scenario: During lunch, a new student accidentally drops his tray of food and looks very embarrassed. Some of the kids start giggling about it.
Bisher’s answer:
“I would go up to them to ask if they’re ok, then I’d go with him to ask the kitchen for the cleaning material and help him clean up so neither him nor the staff have to do it alone. Then I’d go with him to get a second tray of food and I would sit with him to eat together.”

I was really impressed by some of the other responses, honestly. This exercise ended up being way better than I expected. Everyone jumped in and shared thoughtful answers that made our meeting really meaningful.

International Dinner: An Australian Adventure!

Tonight, we were treated to an incredible Australian-inspired meal for our weekly International Dinner.

The menu consisted of tender lamb in a savoury sauce, potato gratin, and a special Roquette vegetable pie. For dessert, we enjoyed chantilly crème with an assortment of fruits in syrup as a topping.

A fun fact about Australia: the country is as wide as the distance between London and Moscow!
