Weekend Recap โ€“ Celebrating Culture, Competition, and Community ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฎ

What a weekend! With International Week in full swing at CDL, the energy on campus was high, and the spirit of celebration, culture, and community was everywhere.

Friday kicked things off strong with the vibrant Brazilian stand run by Vale and her friends. They brought the flavor of Brazil to life with delicious brigadeiros and refreshing drinks that were a huge hit sweet, rich, and absolutely irresistible! Vale somehow also found time to organise, play and referee the Middle School vs. High School volleyball tournament, she was everywhere at once and pulled it off like a pro.

Back in the boarding house, Emma and ร‰toile helped me whip up a cheesecake, and wow… it was gone in minutes. Safe to say it was a hit. Definitely one to make again soon!

We also jumped into the May Fitness Challenge, which added a fun and slightly competitive twist to the weekend. ร‰toile absolutely smashed the mountain climbers with 129 in one minute which is super impressive. And then Vale and Marusya took on the patty cake challenge, managing 30 uninterrupted claps in a minute. Sounds easy, but itโ€™s trickier than it looks!

And today, Sofiia got moving with a solid tennis session, aย perfect way to wrap things up and get those steps in before the new week starts.

All in all, it was a weekend full of laughter, movement, teamwork, and (lots of) sugar. Canโ€™t wait for the next one!

A dinner to remember

To wrap up the year, as some girls are getting ready to leave, we had our last house dinner together โ€” and this time, we decided to take over the kitchen and made a delicious dinner.

Everyone got involved, from prepping ingredients to setting the table. Some of us tried new recipes, while others stuck to their favorites and also shared some secret recipes โ€” and somehow, it all came together into a pretty impressive spread. There was music playing, lots of laughs, some gossip and a great time to share our last moments all together.

Once everything was ready, we sat down to enjoy the meal as a house one last time. It was a fun, laid-back evening and a great way to spend time together, it has been a wonderful event.

Lots of love,

Spring weekend Vibes

Weekends at Louis Yung aren’t just about studying for the next exam or lounging around โ€” theyโ€™re a perfect time for the girls to recharge, stay active, and have some serious fun after a long week of exams.

This weekend, a group of girls headed to the lake for an exciting wakeboarding session. For many, it was their first time on the water, but with encouragement and a few tumbles, they quickly got the hang of it. Laughter echoed across the lake as they challenged themselves to stand longer, ride faster, and even try out a few tricks.

Back on campus, another group focused on body shaping workouts and stretchingโ€” a mix of strength training, stretching, and core exercises aimed at building confidence and wellness. Led by a fitness coach, the session was both energizing and empowering. These workouts are about more than just physical fitness; they help the girls develop discipline, resilience, and a sense of accomplishment.

Whether it’s carving across the lake or powering through planks and squats, the girls are learning to push their limits and support each other โ€” and thatโ€™s what makes weekends at boarding school truly special.

This Week in the House: Food, Feelings, and a Taste of Russia

What a week itโ€™s been, full of great food and important conversations.

We kicked things off on Tuesday with a cozy house dinner. Lasagne was on the menu, and we wrapped it up with a delicious tiramisu for dessert. Thereโ€™s something about sitting around the table together, laughing and catching up, that makes the house feel even more like home.

Wednesday: Talking Empathy at Our House Meeting
On Wednesday, we continued working on our 5th Pillar: Making Safe and Responsible Choices. This weekโ€™s focus was all about empathyโ€”specifically, the tricky but powerful idea of seeing the world through someone elseโ€™s eyes.

The Advocates team led us through a video that broke it down in a simple but meaningful way: what empathy really means, why itโ€™s not always easy, and how it helps us grow stronger as a community. The goal was to help us not just talk about empathy, but really understand how to live it.

Tonightโ€™s Boarding Assembly was something special. Sofiia and her friends took the stage to tell us about Maslenitsa, a beloved Russian tradition that celebrates the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

Also known as Pancake Week, Maslenitsa is full of joyโ€”sleigh rides, singing, games, and of course, blini (thin pancakes that symbolize the sun). Sofiia and her group shared what this tradition means to them and brought a little bit of that festive spirit to all of us. It was beautiful to see culture shared with such pride and openness.

What a weekend!

Vale started things off with some wakeboarding and even though sheโ€™s done it before, she had an absolute blast out there. Emma followed with a calming stretching session, and Marina powered through a bodyshaping class (go Marina!).

We also kicked off our May Fitness Challenge, and itโ€™s already bringing out everyoneโ€™s energy and team spirit. Friday’s challenge was pull-ups. Vale gave it a try and nearly got oneโ€”so close! We love seeing that determination.

On Saturday, the goal was to do as many jumping jacks as possible. Withย some enthusiastic encouragement from Vale and Mo, Marcela pushed through and hit 65. Such a great moment!

And today, we switched it up with a creative twist: make a TikTok. Emma and ร‰toile jumped in and filmed a short, funny one that had us all laughing.

Canโ€™t wait to see what next week brings!

A Glimpse into the World of Active, Ambitious Girls

Life in a girls’ boarding house is anything but dull. Every day brings a mix of energy, focus, and camaraderie. From early morning workouts to late-night study sessions, these young women juggle academics, fitness, and friendships with impressive grace.

Ther was time during this weekend for everything, all of the girls quite focused on studying, but also time to play some tennis, do som stretching or bodyshapping.

As exam season approaches, the mood shifts. The library becomes the heartbeat of the boarding house. Students gather around tables, notes spread wide, highlighters in hand, supporting one another through the pressure of revision. Quiet determination fills the room, mixed with whispered encouragement and shared snacks.

Together, these girls are building more than just good gradesโ€”they’re building resilience, independence, and lifelong friendships.
