Honours Recognition Assembly

Well done to our young ones for being great students. Our Head of Boarding Mr. Usher wanted to give a big thank you to the students for being great examples here at Collège du Léman. Our Concha representatives are Alex, Juze, Eduardo and Fanyang – good job boys and keep it up!

Congratulations!

What A Wednesday!

Wednesday are always quite a busy day, with so much going on that it goes by in the blink of an eye!

For our international dinner, we enjoyed some delicious Chinese food!

Our dear Mr. Jack reunited with the lads!

Yet another round of spot the Roner!

Nice to see that Gianni’s evolved to a thumbs up!

Matthew and Vincent, livin’ la vida loca like usual

“Wait, wait! Daniel will be here in a sec, he’s just going for round 3!”

After our House Meeting, all the boys gathered round to see their rewards for being punctual and discuss some trading strategies.

Samwise hunting for rewards, no one is safe!

Pillar 3: Building Positive Relationships

This evening we launched Pillar 3 of our Well being Program!
This pillar focuses on building positive relationships, and what better way to kick it off than to talk about one of the most important relationships you could ever cultivate: the one with yourself.
Self-acceptance, self-love, understanding your emotions and your thoughts; these are all vital aspects of positive friendships as they impact they way you interact and develop relationships with others.
We spoke about how self-acceptance can be difficult sometimes, especially at this age and provided some tips to help our boys in case they found themselves struggling with it.
Lastly, we played a game where we threw a ball around and each of us said something we liked about ourselves or that we felt proud of. It was lovely to see that so many people were quite proud of helping others! There was a lot of giggling and clapping, but overall a lovely way to get the boys to see how great they really are.

Joao’s turn with the ball!

Xīnnián Kuàilè!

This evening some of our boys celebrated the Lunar New Year by going out and enjoying a meal together!

Some of our boys stayed home, but we celebrated with them here by ordering some delicious food of our own and sitting down to eat it together here in Concha!

Novel Nights

Tonight we enjoyed another round of our Reading Club!

We had quite a few new words tonight, and the boys had a lot of fun coming up with examples of how the words would be used.

Many words were quite similar and context was important to define them, like whisper and muttered or astonished and perturbed.

Some words made it quite clear the tone of the chapter they were reading, like paranoia, bitterly, and fitful.

Others were more whimsical, like glitter, brandish, decorate and soapy.

And then there’s copperplate…which is just fun to say.

Lunar Dumplings!

For some of our boys, the act of preparing dumplings and eating them together during the lead up to the Lunar New Year is a common practice that is supposed to bring prosperity, luck and success in the new year, and the amount increases the more dumplings you eat!

So together with the guidance of their parents, they prepared some traditional dumplings from scratch!

Fanbo working away, smiling at the thought of how delicious these are going to be

Jiarui laser focused

Fanyang after over 30 min of chopping away! Joao stepped in as relief for a moment

Look at how green these finely chopped green onions are!

Now for assembly, an arduous process that requires focus and some dexterous hands

A little flour toss to avoid sticking

We just love it when a plan comes together

Getting all our dumplings in a row

The delicious final product. The boys did such an incredible job for their time making these by themselves!

An Ice-capade to Versoix’s Ice Rink! ⛸️

Today, the kids had the opportunity to go to Versoix’s Ice Rink with boys and girls from different boarding houses. ❄️

Some of them already knew how to do ice skating, however, there were others who hadn’t done it before or hadn’t practiced it that much. The truth is, some of them were not really sure about trying it out at first, as they were afraid they could fall and consequently, others were going to laugh. Nevertheless, the good thing is that everyone supported one another, and those who were more skilled did not hesitate to help those who needed a hand. In addition, la patinoire de Versoix counts on a small bar, where the kids could get some iced tea and hot chocolate after the one-hour-and-a-half ice skating session. ⛸️

All in all, a very bonding and enriching experience our Concha boys will remember with joy. Are they going to do the same next weekend? Stay tuned for more Concha updates! ✌🏻

Ready to rock the ice rink! ⛸️

Firdavs made some moves on the rink 🤩

Look at this crew! 😝

Jiarui tried it for the first time. Though hard at first, he loved it!

Daniel and Shaokun from Léman having a good time

We need a physical copy of this picture, it’s sooooo cool! 📸

Gianni was gradually gaining more confidence

Once he learnt the basic moves, Zhengtai was unstoppable! 🙌🏻

Fanyang was actually telling me off in this picture because I subconsciously called him Fanbo 😭 (by the way, look who’s in the back)

Adam and Alex helped Jiarui!

We cannot deny these two get along really well 🥳

Time to leave the ice rink and head back to the house 🏡

On our way back 🌳

Busy Saturday On And Off Campus! 😎

As usual, our Concha boys made the most of their time off during the weekend and took part in at least one activity out of the several options the school offers every weekend. 🏀

While some of them preferred to have a chill Saturday at the house after their activities, others wanted to go shopping in Geneva. They always find something to do in this cosmopolitan city: buy snacks and clothes, have a nice meal at their favourite restaurant, walk by the Jet d’Eau or simply have fun with their friends while sightseeing. In fact, it was Martin’s first time in Geneva and he confessed he loved it and cannot wait to go back again! 🇨🇭

Martin really enjoyed his first tennis class! 🎾

Let’s go, Fanbo! 🏀

All the way from China…here we have the famous basketball superstar: Tim! ✨

Ken arrived in Barbie’s Dreamland! 🤪

Looks like Martin has made really good friends from other houses! 🌍 Liza and Kapa (Terray) and Rochelle (Villa du Lac)

And of course, Mr Victor (me!) and Ms Rym from Terray, accompanied the kids to this marvelous city! 🤩

Bon Appétit! 🇫🇷

Aujourd’hui, our Concha boys got a delicious French dinner delivered at the house 🍽️

As you might have realised, one Thursday a month the kids get to have dinner together with us in the house. Thanks to this initiative, they have the opportunity to try dishes from different countries in the world, which reinforces their perception of multiculturalism and allows them to explore new flavours and traditions. ✨

This month, it was time to try an appetizing French dinner. The main course consisted of a cheeeeeeesy croque monsieur with some chips on the side. Then, it was time for dessert. A yummy éclair au chocolat was waiting for us! The kids loved it (yes, some of them even had two 😝). After dinner, they enjoyed the rest of their social hour, which helped them recharge their batteries for the upcoming study hall. 💪🏻

It was too cheesy to say cheese 🧀📸

Ready to eat! (But let’s wait for Emir to get his chips first) 🍴

A picture with Mr Sam, our new House Tutor! 🤩

This éclair au chocolat was insane! Wish you could have tried it 🍫
